Forensic Treatment Unit This program provides specialized mental health care for individuals involved in the criminal justice system or those at risk of offending. Services include assessment and treatment for individuals found Not Criminally Responsible (NCR) or Unfit to Stand Trial, as well as those convicted of an offense. Treatment units are located in Ottawa and Brockville. Qualifications Graduate of recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing; Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice. Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation. CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years. Completion of Prevention of Violence in the Workplace training (C.P.I.) required. Commitment to ongoing professional development Technical skills such as glucometer reading, vital signs, injection skills, physical assessment/mental health assessment, catheterization, medication administration, O2 administration, basic wound care, suctioning, safe patient handling, bladder scanning, ECT recovery, skin care and feeding Ability to develop therapeutic relations with patients Ability to function as a member of the inter-disciplinary team Basic computer skills required English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading and writing. Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
