The Nurse works within the teams interdisciplinary clinical framework to provide client centered and strengths-based care in accordance with the BCCNM Standards of Practice and consistent with the mission, vision and values and established policy and protocols of RainCity Housing and the ACT team.Many of our clients are certified under the Mental Health Act and knowledge of the Act and its implications and limitations is essential to working as an ACT nurse.The Nurse provides treatment services that are both inclusionary and flexible for individuals with mental illness, addictions and/or chronic medical conditions and ensures integration and continuity across the care continuum. The Nurse establishes and maintains relationships with, and consults with community health clinics, hospitals, housing providers and the interdisciplinary teams to provide appropriate treatment services based on best practices and client need. The Nurse performs duties such as, intake, mental and physical health and substance use assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, consultation with hospitals around care planning and discharge, wound care and medication monitoring and administration.Job Competition # job2025.101Closing Date: Midnight, March 28, 2025Job: Community Outreach Nurse / Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Assertive Community Treatment Team, Permanent, Full-Time Position, 0.6 FTEHourly Range: $40.21-$57.78 (BCNU Level 3 RN/RPN)Hours: 1.0 (or 0.6 FTE) Average of 75 hours Bi-weekly (or 45 hours for 0.6)Schedule: Rotating 8-week schedule; Shifts in this position are from 08:30AM - 6:30PM on both weekdays and weekends. Includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break.Start Date: As soon as possibleA clear British Columbia Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults and/or children is a condition of employment with RainCity Housing. Program SummaryACT is an evidence-based transdisciplinary mental health team that provides outreach support to clients with severe and persistent mental health and substance use diagnoses. The RainCity ACT team also provides housing support for clients using a housing first framework. Self-determination, choice and harm reduction are at the centre of all considerations with respect to the provision of ACT services. QualificationsBachelors or Diploma (RN/RPN) in NursingCurrent practicing registration with the BCCNM (BC College of Nurses and Midwives).Three (3) years recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and addiction concerns, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge and Abilities: Broad knowledge of diagnoses, treatment and support resources in the areas of mental illness and substance use.Knowledge and experience with harm reduction principles.Basic knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to client, including the BC Mental Health Act.Demonstrated understanding of oppression and marginalization, specifically as related to people with experience of a mental illness, addiction, or homelessness.Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in an urban environment and willingness to provide flexible and creative care.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.Physical ability to perform the duties of outreach nursing, including light lifting (up to 15lb) and walking/stairs in community settings. #indcampPlease submit both a cover letter and resume to apply, describing your suitability for this position.
