Monthly mortgage payments received by Habitat are used to purchase more land which enables donations to keep on giving - building more homes, more hope and more thriving communities. Volunteer Opportunity Details Volunteer Opportunity ID: 6186 Description of Duties: Habitat for Humanity Brandon is looking for Family Selection & Support Committee Members. Members of the Family Selection & Support Committee are committed to act on behalf of Habitat for Humanity Manitoba (Brandon). It is the responsibility of the committee members to attend Family Selection Committee meetings and to conduct confidential home visits. The visits are done with the utmost respect for the family while successfully obtaining information regarding the family's level of need, and respecting the values and individuality of each family member. Home visits are conducted in pairs. Responsibilities: Conduct home visits and obtain only relevant material for establishing the family's level of need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner. Make timely home visit reports back to the committee. Deliver or arrange for delivery of the Homeowner Course to partner families. Commitment: Conduct home visits to interview applicant families and generate a report. Attend committee meetings one evening per month Skills Required: New members of the Family Selection Committee will receive orientation from a representative of Habitat for Humanity Manitoba. Where possible, be mentored by experienced committee members by observing and attending home visits and participating in committee meetings.
