Department Community Services Department - Parks, Recreation and Culture Division Assist participants with exceptionalities with training, activities for day camp programs and liaising with parents, program participants, and general public, ensuring a safe program environment, including active supervision of children and equipment. Employment Status: Student Union: NON-UNION Open To: Internal/External Applicant(s) Closing Date: 01/07/2026 Duration (if temporary): Student, June to August Job Title Inclusion Camp Leader Wage $18.71 hourly (2026) Reports To Supervisor, Community Partnership & Programs Department Community Services Location Lindsay Recreation Complex Hours Summer Full Time, 40 hours per week Other Hours are Monday - Friday The City of Kawartha Lakes is hiring summer students, and we're looking for innovative and passionate individuals interested in a two-month position from July to August. Our Summer Student Program introduces students to the public sector through challenging experiences, while providing meaningful opportunities to contribute to the community. Summer employment with the City of Kawartha Lakes can be great way to earn and learn. To be considered for a Student position with the City of Kawartha Lakes, you must be: Minimum of age 16 Registered as a full time student during the preceding academic year, 2025 to 2026 Registered as a full time student with the intent to return to school on a full time basis during the next academic year, 2026 to 2027 Job Description Provide 1:1 support to day camp participants to ensure successful participation in a camp environment Work with other camp staff to suggest and implement program and environmental adaptations as needed to support participants involvement in camp programming Maintain communication with camp staff team and supervisors; on-going professional communications with caregivers as required Encourage appropriate behaviour using learned strategies and acquired skills Assist participant with self-care needs including, but not limited to, changing of clothes, lifts, transfers, and feeding Ensure and promote the safety and care of all camp participants Qualifications Currently enrolled in a related field is an asset (i.e. Educational Assistant, Nursing, Developmental Service Worker, Personal Support Worker, Teacher, Therapeutic Recreation, etc.) and related experience Experience working with children (ages 5 to 12) with disabilities or unique needs Experience developing and implementing adaptive programming for participants to promote the inclusion of children with exceptionalities Previous work/volunteer experience working in a camp or similar setting is an asset Possess current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certificate preferred Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search will be required.
