As a valued member of the Quay North Urban team, the Venue Sales Manager reports directly to the President & is responsible for all aspects of venue sales and marketing strategy. This role is integral to the success of the Venue Department, providing leadership, strategic direction & oversight of sales initiatives & marketing efforts. The role is responsible for driving venue bookings, maximizing revenue, strengthening market presence & ensuring the longterm integrity and profitability of QNUs venues. SCOPE AND PURPOSE The Venue Sales Manager is an experienced management professional responsible for leading the sales and marketing functions of the Venue Department to drive revenue growth & longterm profitability. The role provides clear, strategic & resultsdriven leadership to the Venue team, balancing handson management with highlevel planning & execution. This position maintains a strong onsite presence through regular venue inspections, client site tours, & engagement with staff to ensure venues are effectively positioned, accurately represented, & consistently marketready. The role reports weekly to the President, providing insight on sales performance, marketing initiatives, pipeline development, & overall revenue outcomes. CORE COMPETENCIES, CHARACTERISTICS & QUALIFICATIONS The Venue Sales Manager possesses and demonstrates the following experience and/or capabilities GENERAL 4-6 years of proven experience in sales & marketing within venues, hospitality, events, or related industries Strong revenue-driven mindset with excellent negotiating skills Excellent communication, presentation & storytelling abilities Proficiency with CRM systems, marketing platforms & analytics tools Experience managing a venue or events focused sales portfolio Knowledge of branding, digital advertising & content strategy Ability to analyze performance data & optimize strategies Leadership experience and cross departmental collaboration Experience or exposure to catering, bar management an asset Post-secondary degree or diploma in related discipline preferred Strong working knowledge of event industry principles, methods, practices & techniques as they relate to all areas of booking venues, and event planning Comprehensive knowledge of event setups & functionality Strong personal integrity with an innate desire to work in an ethical manner Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite Experience with Tripleseat software is an asset, or confidence & ability to learn venue software Highly detail oriented, exceptional organizational skills & able to handle multiple priorities Adaptability, with ability to adjust expectations, priorities & goals to meet company direction Able to follow corporate processes & reporting structure Passion for sales, marketing, client services & satisfaction Ability to lift at least 25 lbs WEDDING & CORPORATE EVENT EXPERIENCE Ability to build & maintain strong relationships; interact & influence at all levels both within & outside the organization Proven ability to achieve goals, multi-task & set priorities based on a constantly changing business environment Proven ability to examine, re-engineer & implement new strategies Goal & results oriented with ability to execute plans and manage change Sincere customer focus & true appreciation for the guest experience Demonstrated strong team player with effective communication skills, essential Ability to analyze & interpret the needs of clients & guests and offer solutions RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES The following outlines the roles and responsibilities of the role, as it relates to providing exemplary service to all clients in planning, preparation and execution of their events or programs being held at The Wallace and/or Pipe Shop Venues Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth Develop & execute sales plans to achieve & exceed revenue targets Identify & cultivate new business opportunities across corporate, social, nonprofit, & private event markets Build & manage a strong sales pipeline, including forecasting & performance tracking Conduct venue tours & sales presentations to prospective clients Strategic outreach for lead development Analysis of sales journey to improve booking numbers Marketing & Brand Management Lead marketing efforts to increase venue visibility, brand awareness & lead generation Develop & implement integrated marketing campaigns: digital, social, email, print & partnerships Oversee content creation, including website updates, promotional materials, photography & video Oversee social media presence & online listings to ensure brand consistency & accuracy Analyze market trends, competitors & customer insights to refine positioning Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary sales contact for clients during the inquiry & contract phase Maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business & referrals Ensure a smooth transition from sales to event execution teams Manage post event follow ups & client feedback to support retention Conduct site inspections for client meetings (clients, vendors, planners, etc.), during or outside of regular office hours, as required. Ensure clients are aware of all booking & contractual requirements A flexible schedule is required to accommodate occasional evening & weekend work, to provide access for clients' events & when covering for other departments, to ensure presence at all events Resolve client concerns & issues efficiently and courteously to prevent reoccurrence & with a goal to retain repeat bookings or referrals Review event report following event, discuss team & ensure all parties sign-off prior to closing out client booking file Maintain regular communication & reporting with the City of North Vancouver as it relates to the management of the Pipe Shop Venue Administration Review client file with Client & Event Services Coordinator and Beverage Services Coordinator when transferring client Oversee all administrative functions of property operations, ensuring flow of information is efficient and effective Deliver detailed reporting packages to the Executive Team monthly, or as required Ensure full compliance with all liquor licensing laws, regulations & conditions, maintaining operational practices that protect the establishments liquor license from suspension, fines, or revocation Oversee bar menu creation & selections Review all venue related purchase orders Monitor, review & approve all venue related invoices Review accounts receivable on a weekly & daily basis for all venues, ensure appropriate follow up by Coordinators as necessary Report monthly on financial statements & budgets, with analysis & explanation for variances Prepare annual venue budgets with oversight from President Reporting & Meetings Daily communications with Coordinators on current client files & upcoming projects, marketing efforts, or other deadlines Weekly meeting with Coordinators, to review all past and upcoming events, contracted staff needs, client services & operations items for the venues. Invoice signing, vacation requests, internal needs managed Weekly updates to President providing pertinent information & venue programming for discussion, approval and general awareness. Including team members on relevant email communication, as requested or required Attendance at weekly staff meetings to report on sales & marketing efforts for the Venue Team. Review & submit monthly reports for the Venue Department Oversee members of the venue department, with direct supervision of the Client & Events Services Coordinator and Beverage, Services Coordinator Daily check-ins with direct reports, & other department managers as required Conduct performance reviews for all department staff; work with team members to establish & maintain growth plans Ensure all staff respect QNUs personnel policies & supervisors receive training to implement them properly Brand Ambassador At all times represent QNU brands professionally, in a manner directed through all communication & interaction Compensation for this role varies based on experience, skills, & qualifications.
