Job Description Our Summer Student program runs each year from May to August, offering summer employment to students currently enrolled or recently graduated from applicable post-secondary studies. This program is funded by the federal government run Canada Summer Jobs Grant which requires successful candidates be 30 years of age or younger and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. We are looking for: A full-time contract Recreation Student Hours of Work: 34 hours/week. Monday-Thursday: 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Friday: 8:30 am-3:30 pm. This is an in-person role, at our Adult Day Program 9600 Bathurst Street, Maple Reports to: Supervisor, Adult Day Program Responsibilities Assist on the vans as needed. Co-facilitate recreational groups. Assist with general programming. Assist during lunch time and morning snack. Assist with greeting clients in the morning and helping to prepare for their departure. Assist with monitoring individualized clients. Help with end of day clean up and next day set up. Other tasks as assigned. Risk, Health and Safety Management Participating in health and safety processes and procedures. Participating in maintaining a safe workplace environment by cultivating a positive safety culture and encouraging best practices to promote both staff and client safety and well-being. Participating in all health and safety training initiatives on a regular basis. Taking proactive action against client incidents within your scope of practice. Protecting the wellbeing of staff by providing a safe and healthy working environment. Promoting a culture of safety by being responsible for encouraging blame-free reporting. Investigating adverse events by performing a root cause analysis and gathering all relevant information as it pertains to the event. Qualifications Minimum completion of first year at a community college in a social service, or recreational program. Demonstrated knowledge or experience working with seniors with dementia or other cognitive disabilities are an asset. Experience leading social or recreational activities with seniors is an asset. Russian or other language is an asset.
