About The Role Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement, the Category Buyer is responsible for managing the supply of goods and services to the company in a timely manner with precise attention to detail regarding cost and quality. They will be well versed in creating effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and possess excellent communication and analytical skills. Work Location Kelowna Corporate Office Role Responsibilities Maintain vendor base which provide optimal total value in service, quality and price for goods and services while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. Source new vendors for new materials, Biomass and components and Services. Lead the validation and compliance process; ensure company purchasing policies and procedures are followed during supplier negotiations and contracts award process. Negotiate pricing, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods. Timely ordering of products and components in support of company forecasts. Promptly handle requisitions to ensure stable supply and timely availability of materials and services. Ensure that all purchased materials and services meet established quality levels and predetermined specifications and requirements. Work extensively in ERP - managing purchase orders, inventory levels and arrival of goods. Monitor supplier performance and establish improvement plans as required. Work collaboratively and effectively with internal departments. Coordinate and issue return, repair, warranty issues, revisions, and cancellation purchase orders. Replenish stock on consumables and critical items. Support achievement of annual cost savings targets. Coordinate deposits and payments with finance department in compliance with internal controls. Experience And Qualifications 3+ years' experience in a purchasing supply chain role required, preferably in a fast-moving consumer goods or manufacturing type environment. Degree or Diploma in Business or Supply Chain Management, or related discipline required. Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certification through the Supply Chain Management Association is highly desirable. Experience with ERP systems required (Microsoft Dynamics an asset). Knowledge and experience with production, purchasing, planning, inventory control and scheduling. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
