Base pay range CA$55.00/yr - CA$61.00/yr Direct message the job poster from Altis Recruitment Altis Recruitment is grateful to partner with one of our public sector clients in search of a Senior Accountant (CPA) to provide operational accounting support. This role will help maintain continuity, execute routine and complex accounting tasks, and support year-end activities. The successful candidate will work remotely in British Columbia and handle technical accounting, journal entry review, reporting, and audit support. Key Responsibilities Perform and review journal entries, reconciliations, and routine financial reporting Support month-end and year-end close processes (major close March 31, with required overtime during the April 45 weekend) Prepare technical accounting documentation, including memos and standards interpretations Conduct complex financial analyses and operational reporting using large datasets Review and provide constructive feedback on the work of other accountants and technicians Assist with process improvements, automation, and efficiencies Work extensively in Excel, including use of macros, automation, and potentially VBA Support master data maintenance in SAP, as applicable Participate in secondary audit activities and provide supporting documentation Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance and operations Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience Public practice experience is considered an asset Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and their practical application Advanced Excel skills, including work with large datasets, macros, and automation Experience reviewing others work and giving constructive, respectful feedback Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy Must reside in British Columbia and work PST hours Must have own computer and be able to obtain a Gaming Policy Enforcement License (required to start) Experience with SAP, Blackline, Workiva, Salesforce, SuccessFactors, and IntroLot Assets Background in public practice, particularly year-end work Experience providing informal leadership or mentoring Experience with VBA or other automation tools Strong relationship-building skills in a remote environment Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Contract Job function Accounting/Auditing and Finance Industries Accounting, Financial Services, and Professional Services #J-18808-Ljbffr
