Senior Solutions Architect - Jetpay Platform Baseline Payments is a Vancouver-based fintech and payments consultancy serving nearly 2,000 clients across Canada and the U.S. Jetpay is our proprietary B2B payments platform that enables businesses to send and receive highvalue payments without the friction of cheques, limits, or manual processes. We are looking for a dedicated Senior Solutions Architect to oversee the endtoend architecture of Jetpay, across web, API, and cloud infrastructure, while overseeing the entire development team and reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer. Role Overview The Senior Solutions Architect will oversee the architecture and technical direction of the Jetpay platform, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and aligned with product and business strategy. You will oversee our full technology stack (Python back end, Node.js front end, GCP cloud infrastructure) and lead the multidisciplinary development team delivering webbased and APIdriven payment capabilities to merchants, technology partners, and ISVs. You will work closely with the Product Owner Jetpay and the Chief Strategy Officer to shape the longterm roadmap, translate business requirements into technical designs, and guide implementation across the platform. In this leadership role, you will oversee the daytoday work of the development team, ensuring clarity of priorities, technical quality, and alignment with the product strategy. Key Responsibilities Define, document, and maintain the endtoend architecture of Jetpay, covering web front end, Python back end, APIs, and GCP infrastructure. Ensure the platform is scalable, resilient, and cloudnative, following GCP best practices for security, performance, and cost efficiency. Design and govern RESTful APIs used by technology partners and ISVs to embed Jetpay capabilities into their solutions. Platform and Solution Design Translate complex business and product requirements into technical specifications, solution designs, and architectural blueprints for new features and integrations. Lead design for webbased merchant experiences that support sending and receiving payments, batch processing, approvals, and realtime tracking. Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and patterns (e.g., microservices, eventdriven design) that improve platform maintainability and speed of delivery. Cloud, Security, and Reliability Oversee the design of our GCP environment, including networking, storage, compute, security controls, and observability. Ensure the platform meets strong security and compliance expectations for financial services, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and auditability. Define and monitor key technical KPIs such as API performance, uptime, error rates, and scalability under load. Technical Leadership and Team Management Oversee and mentor the entire multidisciplinary development team (front end, back end, DevOps, QA) to implement solutions that align with the architectural vision. Collaborate closely with the Product Owner, Chief Strategy Officer, and Sales/Implementation teams to align technical decisions with product roadmap and client needs. Oversee technical design reviews, code review standards, and documentation to ensure consistent quality and knowledge sharing. Manage workload distribution, technical priorities, and sprint planning in collaboration with the Product Owner. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Partner with clients and integration partners to design robust API and platform integrations tailored to their systems. Communicate architectural options, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Contribute to longterm product and technology strategy, identifying opportunities for innovation and new platform capabilities. Reporting Line This role reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and is accountable for the overall technical health, team performance, and evolution of the Jetpay platform. Required Experience and Skills Technical Skills 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 35 years in a Solution/Solutions Architect or similar senior technical leadership role, ideally in fintech or payments. Deep handson expertise with Python for backend services and Node.js for web applications and APIs. Strong experience designing and operating production systems on Google Cloud Platform (e.g., GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL/Firestore, IAM, networking) Proven track record designing secure, scalable RESTful APIs and webbased SaaS platforms. Solid knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and integration patterns (e.g., message queues, webhooks, eventdriven architectures) Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, GitHub Actions, or similar) Leadership and Domain Skills Experience working with payment systems, financial services, or other highly regulated or highavailability platforms is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of security best practices in financial applications, including encryption, key management, authentication, authorization, and logging. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineers, foster collaboration across disciplines, and build highperforming teams. Proven experience overseeing development teams and managing technical delivery in fastpaced environments. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in simple language for product, strategy, and business stakeholders. Comfortable working in a fastpaced, inperson, collaborative environment from our Vancouver office (Mount Pleasant) Education and Certifications Bachelor''''s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience) Cloud architecture certifications (e.g., Google Professional Cloud Architect) are a strong asset. Relevant security or architecture certifications (e.g., CISSP, TOGAF) are considered an asset but not required.
