Your Purpose Reporting to the Director, People, the People Specialist supports the People Department in delivering operational excellence across the University Hospital Foundation (the Foundation). The People Specialist plays a key role in shaping a positive, high performing, and performing, and mission aligned employee experience across the Foundation. This position supports all aspects of the people function from talent acquisition and onboarding to employee relations, talent development, volunteer management, culture initiatives, and HR operations. The ideal candidate brings strong HR expertise, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for supporting teams who advance health in our community. Your Role Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Leadfull cyclerecruitment forFoundation roles, ensuring an inclusive andvalues alignedhiring processfrom talent acquisition to new hire onboarding. Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, develop job postings, and design effective interview processes. Manageand lead onboarding for new hires,that createsa welcoming, engaging, and consistent experience for new employees. Employee Relations & Culture Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders, providing guidance on policies, performance, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns. Support initiatives that strengthen organizational culture, employee engagement,diversityandemployee wellness. HR Operations & Compliance Maintainaccurateemployee records, HRIS data, and documentation in alignment with privacy and regulatory requirements. Supportperformance managementandcompensationprogramadministration. Ensure compliance with employment legislationand Foundation policies. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HR policiesandprocedures. AssistwithannualImagineCanadaaccreditationrequirements. Maintain employee turnover reporting and other HR metrics as required. Organizational Development Assistwith succession planning, and talent development initiatives. Analyze HR metrics and provide insights to leadership to support data informeddecision making. Support change management efforts related to organizational growth, technology adoption, and process improvements. Training & Development Coordinate and support professional development programs that enhance employee skills, leadership capabilities, and career growth. Identifytraining needs through collaboration with leaders and employee feedback. Track participation, evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend improvements to strengthen learning outcomes. Support the development of internal learning resources, including onboarding materialsandtoolkits Compensation & Benefits Support the administration of theFoundations compensation framework, including salary reviews, job evaluations, and market benchmarking. Assistwith the coordination of employee benefits programs, including healthand wellness. Provide employees with clear,timelyinformation about compensation and benefits policies. Partner with financetoensure compensation practicesand processes are implemented andmaintainedwith integrity. Volunteer Management Managethe recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of volunteers who contribute tothe Foundations Signature Events(e.g. Festival of Trees)andvariousfundraising initiatives. Maintain volunteer records, schedules, and communications to ensure a positive and organized volunteer experience. Collaborate withleadersto understand volunteer needs and ensureappropriate placementand support. Assistwithrecognition initiatives that celebrate volunteer contributions and strengthenlong-termengagement. Ensure volunteer practices align with organizational policiesandsafety standards. Qualifications Education: Postsecondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field CPHR designation (or working toward it) is an asset. Experience: 5-7 years of progressive experience in human resources, ideally within nonprofitorhealthcare. Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices. Demonstrated experience in recruitment, employee relations,training and developmentand HR operations. Exceptional communication,relationship building, andproblem-solvingskills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Comfortable working in a dynamic,changing,collaborative, andpurpose drivenenvironment. Experience with Humi or Employment Hero is an asset. Competence in and strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Competencies: Apeople firstmindset and a genuine commitment to supporting teams who advance healthcare. A proactive,solutions-orientedapproach with the ability to navigate complexity. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with care and accuracy. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision,pivoton shortnoticeandadapt to anevolving workenvironment. A collaborativeinclusivespirit and the confidence to work withemployees andleaders at all levels. Must have high attention to detail and accuracy under tight timelines.
