Job Description

The Digital Technical Lead (DTL) is responsible for the end-to-end technical ownership of PSIs digital platforms, with a primary focus on the Magento B2B website , which represents the majority of company revenue. This role serves as the bridge between business, marketing, and technology , translating growth and customer experience requirements into secure, stable, and scalable technical solutions . The Digital Technical Lead ensures that digital initiatives are delivered efficiently while maintaining platform reliability, security, and performance. Key Responsibilities Platform Ownership & Technical Leadership Own the technical health of PSIs digital platforms (i.e. Magento B2B, Shopify B2B/B2C, Hubspot, Klaviyo, Celigo, Netsuite integration) Ensure platform stability, uptime, scalability, and performance Lead technical decision-making for platform enhancements and integrations Maintain and evolve platform architecture aligned with business needs Delivery & Execution Translate business, marketing, and UX requirements into technical designs, identifying risks, gaps, and pitfalls early in the assessment stage Coordinate internal developers, external agencies, and vendors while evaluating their best practices to improve efficiency and reduce costs Lead feature delivery from concept through deployment Hands-on development within agency frameworks to ensure alignment, transparency, and shared ownership Quality control new features and bug fixes by conducting QA scenarios and performing stress tests Own technical backlog, sprint planning, andli> Balance speed of delivery with risk management Security, Stability & Compliance Implement and enforce secure SDLC practices Partner with ITS on security controls, audits, and compliance (e.g., PCI) Ensure appropriate access controls and data protection Lead incident response and post-incident reviews Collaboration & Stakeholder Management Act as the primary technical point of contact for CRO, marketing, and ITS Facilitate alignment between growth priorities and technical constraints Communicate risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly Support leadership decision-making with technical insights Manage technical relationships with external vendors and agencies Review vendor architecture, code quality, and security posture Optimize platform-related costs (hosting, licenses, services) Reduce long-term dependency on external vendors through knowledge transfer Maintain up-to-date technical documentation Establish standards for code quality, testing, and deployment Identify and reduce technical debt Drive continuous improvement in delivery and platform reliability Key Interfaces IT Director (governance, security, infrastructure) Marketing & Merchandising teams External development agencies and vendors Infrastructure, security, and operations teams Decision Authority Technical design and implementation approach Release readiness and sequencing (within agreed governance) Qualifications & Experience Required 7+ years of experience in web or digital platform engineering Strong development experience with Magento (Adobe Commerce) in a B2B context Strong development experience with Shopify Advance, Plus, Headless in B2B & B2C contexts Experience with code management best practices using Git/GitHub and Composer Experience leading technical delivery for revenue-critical platforms Solid understanding of web security, performance, and scalability Experience working with external vendors and agencies Experience with agile sprint planning and use of project management tools like Jira Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions Adobe Commerce and Shopify Certifications are assets Preferred Familiarity with cloud hosting (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Prior experience in a matrix or dual-reporting environment Technical leadership and judgment Strong communication and stakeholder management Risk awareness and mitigation Problem-solving under pressure Ability to balance speed, quality, and stability Business-oriented mindset Platform uptime and performance Security incidents and audit outcomes Release success rate (low rollback) Delivery predictability What you can expect from Pacific Smoke International: At our company, we strive to provide our team members with the best possible support.
