Overview A Snapshot of Your Day The SGT Field Service Controls Engineer is a Region North America Field Service Representative position reporting to the Gas Turbine Field Service Manager in the Siemens Energy group, based in Canada. This is a position responsible for performing various facets involving the commissioning and servicing of the companys nameplate SGT 100-400 product lines from a controls perspective. The position is the primary source of technical information and services at our customer sites. The SGT Controls Engineer serves as the link between our customers and the rest of the company including but not limited to management, sales, and technical support. Responsibilities Maintain the highest level of a zero-harm culture by following and enforcing all company and customer EHS policies and programs. Energize equipment, load software, and establish communication on various makes of PLC platforms. Ability to make minor and major software changes during the course of normal service or commissioning activities, including changes in both PLCs and HMI systems. Perform loop checks, calibrations and troubleshooting of all field end devices. Interact with different levels of customer and Siemens organizations to report progress, resolve issues, and identify potential services to be offered based on customer needs. Perform complex troubleshooting as required on machinery and ancillary systems. Coordinate with engineering in reporting and implementing changes as necessary to resolve issues. Maintain accurate backup copies of all system software. Communicate progress, schedules, and open items with client. Prepare detailed technical reports. Travel for extended periods of time, both domestic and international as assigned and perform duties on day or night shift under difficult conditions, heat, cold, noise, etc. with the ability to travel on short notice and work weekends and holidays. Must carry valid passport and drivers license and be able to pass both required background checks and required drug and alcohol testing. International assignments are likely to include travel to developing countries. Qualifications This role is focused on SGT 100-400 controls systems and commissioning, but ability to cross train and be utilized in related product families is expected. The FSR is technically responsible for all facets of the companys scope of work during equipment installation and/or subsequent service inspections/outages. A 4-year engineering degree or a minimum of 5-7 years of direct related experience, and advanced understanding of instrumentation and control systems, PLCs, and ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents. Must hold valid drivers license and passport. Previous SGT 100-400 gas turbine controls training/certification/experience on Siemens Controls Systems and commissioning activities including S7, PCS7, Mk II and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix in power generation or oil and gas industries. Siemens Energy offers a variety of benefits including health and wellness, paid time off and holiday pay. The base salary range for this position is $93,000 - $110,000. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
