In 2023, we were named one of Canadas Best Employers (Forbes Magazine) and one of Canadas Greenest Employers.**What youll get**To attract top-tier talent, we offer top-tier benefits:* Compensation thats a step ahead* RRSP matching program to help you save for retirement* A commitment to work-life balance and flexible work arrangements when appropriate for the role* Benefits coverage for partners and kids* Parental leave top-up for primary and secondary caregivers* Employee beer credit* Tuition reimbursement program for eligible employees* Employee and family assistance program* Discount program with access to perks from big brands and local favourites**What youll do The opportunity****Position:**Finance Associate**Location:**Guelph, Ontario**Level:**Individual Contributor**Hiring Range:**52300to65300**Description:**Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting & Compliance, the Finance Associate on the Financial Accounting team will be responsible for supporting general accounting processes, month-end close procedures, reconciling and reporting related party transactions, financial statements reporting to the parent company, preparing journal entries for prepaid and retail operations, and assisting with standardization and improvement of processes.**Responsibilities:*** Prepare standard month-end journal entries for review and approval by supervisor* Analyze income statement accounts for variances and compliance with accounting policy, recommend solutions or refer issues upward for resolution* Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations* Provide quarter-end and year-end audit support to the team by preparing related documentation and files* Assist in preparation of monthly financial statement analysis, refer issues upwards for resolution* Recommend efficiencies and methods of optimization and standardization for month-end processes* Assist management in implementing and monitoring internal controls, policies, and procedures Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to internal customers, parent company, and Statistics Canada survey, by preparing documentation or running reports for review by management* Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger as required* Assist in implementing process standards and relevant documentation* Work with financial planning and analysis group for forecast and analysis* Work with IT, project managers, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and other staff and management in Finance for training, support, and exchanging information for systems, cash management, and fixed assets* Work in partnership with Oracle super-users from various teams within Finance regarding systems issues* Refers complex or unusual issues to supervisor or other Finance staff, as required* Work with other internal and external clients as required**Requirements:*** Post-secondary education in finance or accounting-related field. Working towards professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is considered an asset* Minimum 1 year of related experience* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills* Excellent computer skills in all programs within Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, , Word, PowerPoint)* Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact cross-functionally and with all levels of management* Previous exposure to ERP systems, particularly Oracle R12, would be considered an asset* Ability to project values compatible with the organization**Working Conditions:*** Overtime as required* Hybrid work model - minimum 2 days per week in office**What matters here**We like you just the way you are.
