Company: CanadianAdventureChartersInc.(CAC) Location: Canada(withdomesticandinternationaltravelasrequired) Department: TechnicalOperations ReportsTo: ChiefExecutiveOfficer Position Overview CanadianAdventureCharters(CAC)isseekingahighlyqualified,Canadian-resident Marine Project Manager to lead the technical management, regulatory compliance, and design- forwardmodernizationofourelitefleetof ice-classed expedition and deep-sea research vessels ,includingsubmersiblesupportplatforms. This is a key leadership role that combines advanced engineering and project management skills with deep regulatory knowledge and a commitment to luxury, innovation, and operationalexcellenceinremoteandpolarenvironments. Theidealcandidateisa residentofCanada andholds full Canadian and international marinecertificationsandlicenses , including Transport Canada endorsements, STCW compliance, and experience with international operations under SOLAS, MARPOL, and the PolarCode. Key Responsibilities Manage all technical systems onboard CAC vessels including propulsion, automation, hull integrity, submersible support systems, and scientific equipment. Lead drydockings, refits, system upgrades, submersible and helicopter platform integrations. Interior Design & Vessel Conversion Management: Work directly with award-winning international yacht designers to oversee high-end luxury interior fit-outs, ensuring alignment between aesthetics and technical feasibility. Classification, Regulatory, and Insurance Compliance: Maintain ongoing compliance with DNV, Transport Canada, IMO, Port State Control, and relevant flag state authorities. SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, and ISO certificates; Safety Construction and Equipment certifications. Liaise with P&I insurance companies, hull & machinery underwriters, and other stakeholders involved in marine risk management. Polar/Arctic Operations & Permits: Coordinate operational approvals, permits, and regulatory clearances required for expeditions into Canadas Arctic and international Polar regions. Ensure full compliance with Polar Code regulations and Canadas Arctic Shipping Safety and Pollution Prevention Regulations (ASSPPR). Project Delivery & Shipyard Supervision: Manage complex technical projects including new builds, refits, and scientific retrofits. Coordinate with shipyards, naval architects, engineering firms, and suppliers. Crew Relations & Leadership: Serve as a technical advisor to onboard Masters and Chief Engineers. Required Qualifications Resident of Canada and legally authorized to work both domestically and internationally. Bachelors degree in marine engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline. Chief Engineer (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or equivalent Canadian/International license. Full compliance with Canadian marine regulations, STCW, SOLAS, and MARPOL requirements. Minimum 10 years of maritime technical management, including experience with: Deep-sea research platforms Interior refits and conversions Advanced knowledge of: DNV classification Transport Canada inspections P&I insurance standards and marine casualty reporting Polar operations and permitting processes Proficiency with PMS systems, budgeting, and marine technical software. Preferred Assets Experience managing vessel construction, refits, or conversions in Arctic and international waters. Certified ISM/ISO auditor or equivalent regulatory qualifications. Project Management certification (e.g., PMP). Familiarity with hybrid or low-emission propulsion systems. Key Attributes Results-driven with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
