Local Department Head - Laboratory Medicine and Pathology - Royal Columbian Hospital Fraser Health is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as Local Department Head for Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH). This threeyear appointment offers an opportunity to guide clinical excellence and foster collaboration within one of BCs busiest tertiary care facilities. The ideal candidate is an Active Staff member, actively practicing in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, with at least three years of healthcare leadership experience and a strong background in Clinical Pathology. The Local Department Head acts as the primary liaison between the Regional Department and the hospital site, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with organizational objectives. Responsibilities Participate in the Site Operations Committee or equivalent for the Facility. Serve as the channel of communication to and from the Regional Department, keeping Members practicing within the Facility informed regarding Fraser Health, HAMAC and Departmental objectives, policies, and general activities, and ensuring Regional Departments are aware of issues specific to the Facility. In collaboration with the Regional Department Head, recommend appointment of practitioners, renewal of Medical Staff membership and privileges. Ensure the requirements of programs operating within the Facility are coordinated. Promote health and wellness among Members. Investigate and document complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Department at the Facility under the direction of the appropriate Regional Department Head and/or Site Medical Director where appropriate. Encourage a healthy, respectful workplace. Review with the Regional Department Head the human resource requirements of the Regional Department practicing within the Facility. Contribute to the search and selection of applicants for vacancies in the Regional Department. Conduct morbidity and mortality reviews. Additional Responsibilities Additional duties as outlined in organizational policies for Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Program in accordance with Diagnostic Accreditation Program standards. Eligibility A member of the Active Staff. Actively practicing in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. Leadership experience within the healthcare sector (minimum 3 years).
