We now have an immediate opening for a Director of Operations Southern Alberta Facilities , as we continue to expand our facilities footprint. Working closely with the Site Manager, this role will be responsible for overall operational leadership and carry significant business development responsibility including: driving revenue growth, developing customer relationships, expanding service offerings, and positioning our facilities as the premier logistics and transloading hubs in Western Canada. Job Summary As Director of Operations Southern Alberta Facilities, you will provide strong operational leadership, oversee staff and contractors, ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements, and continuously identify opportunities to drive revenue growth, improve productivity, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Execution: Oversee all transloading operations including rail, truck, storage, product handling, and inventory control Ensure operational plans, staffing, and resources align with customer requirements and company objectives Maintain high standards of safety, compliance, environmental stewardship, and operational reliability Develop and manage operating budgets, capital plans, and maintenance programs. Implement and monitor KPIs related to throughput, cost, quality, safety, and service performance Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, equipment utilization, and process optimization Business Development & Growth (Primary Focus): Lead strategic growth of the Broxburn facility by identifying new customers, markets, and service opportunities Build strong relationships with agricultural, industrial, and logistics partners in Southern Alberta and beyond Develop and negotiate commercial agreements, pricing models, and long-term service contracts Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to position the facility competitively Work with corporate leadership to evaluate new revenue streams, capital investments, and potential expansions Represent the company at industry events, regional business organizations, and customer meetings Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team Oversee recruitment, training, performance management, and succession planning Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement Ensure personnel follow all company policies, site protocols, and regulatory requirements Compliance, Safety & Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to federal, provincial, and municipal regulations related to transportation, workplace safety, environmental compliance, and product handling Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response planning Lead investigations and corrective actions on incidents, near misses, or operational disruptions Stakeholder & Community Engagement: Collaborate with rail partners, trucking companies, regulatory bodies, and municipal stakeholders Maintain strong working relationships with landowners, contractors, and service providers Act as a visible representative of the company within the Southern Alberta region Requirements 812+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, supply chain, transloading, agriculture, or industrial operations Proven success in business development or commercial roles, preferably in transportation, commodities, or logistics sectors Strong understanding of rail operations, transloading processes, equipment, and product handling Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts, build customer relationships, and grow revenue Experience managing P&L, budgets, capital projects, and operational KPIs Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, logistics, engineering, or related fields preferred The ideal candidate may opt to work onsite or on a hybrid basis from within the Southern Alberta region (Calgary, other).
