About the Role At KEV, quality is not a downstream activity it''''s a core engineering responsibility. Our teams build and operate missioncritical SaaS platforms that process financial transactions for more than 27,000 K12 schools across North America. Reliability, correctness, and trust are nonnegotiable. We are hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to embed within our product engineering teams and help ensure quality is built into how software is designed, developed, tested, and released. In this role, you will write test automation, influence system design for testability, and partner closely with engineers to catch issues early and improve delivery confidence. This role is for an engineer who wants to spend most of their time writing code, building automation, and improving how teams deliver software. How You Will Contribute Embed quality early Partner with Product Managers and Engineers during planning and design to identify risks, clarify acceptance criteria, and influence implementation decisions that improve testability and reliability. Build automated test coverage Design, implement, and maintain automated tests across UI, API, and service layers using modern testing frameworks. Ensure tests are reliable, maintainable, and provide fast feedback in CI pipelines. Support shiftleft testing Promote and support shiftleft practices such as unit testing, integration testing, and contract testing to catch defects early and reduce downstream rework. Improve delivery confidence Contribute to release readiness by validating critical workflows, monitoring quality signals, and helping teams understand risk and tradeoffs throughout the development lifecycle. Strengthen CI/CD quality gates Partner with engineering teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, improving signal quality and reducing flaky tests that slow delivery. Production quality and learning Support postrelease analysis, investigate defects, and help teams identify root causes and preventive improvements that strengthen longterm reliability. Advocate for quality Act as a quality champion within your team, sharing best practices, improving standards, and helping raise the overall quality bar across the organization. Who You Are 4+ years of experience in a Quality Engineer, SDET, or software engineering role with a strong focus on test automation Bachelor''''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience Solid programming experience in one or more languages commonly used for test automation (C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar) Handson experience building automated tests for web applications, APIs, and services Familiarity with modern testing frameworks and tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar Experience working in Agile delivery environments with CI/CD pipelines Understanding of how to test distributed systems, APIs, and datadriven workflows Comfortable working with relational databases and validating data integrity using SQL Strong debugging and problemsolving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues across multiple layers of a system Clear communicator who works well with engineers, product partners, and nontechnical stakeholders Motivated by ownership, learning, and continuously improving how software is built and delivered What We Offer Competitive compensation We believe in rewarding great work with fair, competitive pay.
