Skyjack Plant 1 Manufacturing Engineer - Days Job Summary Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the successful candidate will plan and design complex manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. May improve production methods, determine manufacturing capacity, and set up production schedules. They will provide support in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation in support of manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling. May assist in time and cost estimates. May assign work to drafters and technicians, technical writers, engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel as required. Responsibilities Specify new tools, equipment and fixtures where required. Lead manufacturing feasibility reviews for new product development from concept through production launch. Lead or support Lean Manufacturing initiatives (Kaizen, value stream mapping, 5S) to drive waste reduction and process improvement. Recognize and resolve tooling related difficulties with existing and new projects while working with the manufacturing support staff. Investigate new manufacturing and tooling methods. Help in defining plant layout and ergonomic requirements. Participate in Advance Quality Planning. Assist in resolution of process scrap. Change implementation champion. New product and process introductions. Maintain tool lists, set-up instructions and work instructions. Manage standard costing modules. Assist in ensuring the process is capable through capability studies. Participate in corrective action to meet ongoing cost, quality and delivery, in FMEA development and improvements, and participate in CAT activities. Perform other duties/projects as assigned. Academic/Educational Requirements Bachelor''''s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or C.E.T. in a Mechanical or Manufacturing discipline. Preference will be given to candidates registered or working towards a Professional Engineer in Ontario. Required Skills/Experience 3+ years of experience within a relevant role and industry. Ability to write comprehensive entries into technical log books which are then used as reference documents. Ability to evaluate the ability of current building systems to address increased demands from plant operations. Review scale drawings to ensure the proposed designs satisfy the clients'''' requirements and comply with manufacturing capabilities. Interact with technicians or technologists for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules. Active knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, Word, SolidWorks and understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning. Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining. Working Conditions 40 hours per week In office, Production area as required.
