Overview Edmonton, AB, Canada Community Development - Senior Civil Designer Posted Friday, February 20, 2026 at 9:00 AM | Expires Friday, May 1, 2026 at 7:59 AM About the Role ISL is seeking a Senior Community Development Designer to join our Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatoon Teams. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering municipal and land development projects that support vibrant, sustainable communities. The Senior Designer is a technical leader within the project team, contributing deep design expertise, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and supporting the growth of junior staff. Responsibilities Work closely with the Project Manager and project team to prepare highquality design and drawing submission packages for municipal review and approval. Coordinate with internal disciplines, external consultants, and clients to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery. Lead and execute Civil 3D design tasks, including earthworks cut/fill analysis, detailed site grading, corridors, pipe networks and deep utility servicing, profile development, and utility conflict identification and resolution. Prepare engineering drawings, figures, and exhibits to support technical studies and municipal approvals. Perform hydraulic analysis and sizing of storm and sanitary sewers, as well as watermains, in accordance with applicable standards. Complete quantity takeoffs and prepare schedules of quantities and construction cost estimates to support project planning and delivery. Mentor and guide junior designers and technologists, providing technical oversight and supporting the development of strong design and drawing fundamentals. Qualifications Diploma or Degree related to Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Design Technology and/or Civil Design and Drafting Technology. Minimum of 7 years of experience designing detailed design such as grading of lots, underground sewer and water design, storm water management for residential subdivision. Knowledge of drafting and design using AutoDesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD products. Ability to import and process topographic surveys and construction data to produce survey layout files. Ability to mentor other professionals on design standards and best practices. Experience in planning, preliminary design, and detailed design. Collaborative with Construction Services Teams.
