Staff Psychologist, USask Psychology Clinic Primary Purpose: The Department of Psychology and Health Studies Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology is training the next generation of mental health professionals. Our program is expanding, and this will include increases to the student body, additional tenuretrack faculty, and a brandnew facility for the University of Saskatchewan Psychology Clinic (USPC) with increased staff. The USPC serves as the inhouse training facility for our clinical students and provides much needed services for Saskatoon and surrounding communities. The USPC welcomes selfreferrals and client referrals from beyond the USask campus community and seeks to provide lowbarrier services through lowfee and slidingscale payment options. The Staff Psychologist will be based in the USPC and will 1) play a major role in supervising and training clinical psychology students and 2) provide direct services to clients. The clinical psychology program was established in 1971 and has been continuously accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) since 1990. It provides generalist training, for later specialization at the postdoctoral level. Nature of Work: The primary duty of the Staff Psychologist will be serving as clinical supervisor for student placements. Staff psychologists may also supervise clinical components of assessment and intervention courses and supervise junior faculty while they are provisionally registered. Staff psychologists may also provide some direct services. Staff psychologists will play a role in enhancing the profile of the training clinic, generating referrals to the clinic, and supporting the program in meeting CPA accreditation standards. The program seeks a team capable of providing a wide variety of supervision, intervention and assessment services, but a strong preference will be given to applicants with a practice focused on assessment, especially with children and adolescents. This position is part-time (22.5 hours per week; equivalent to 3 days per week) and covered under the collective agreement between the University of Saskatchewan and the Administrative and Supervisory Personnel Association (ASPA). Typical Duties or Accountabilities: The Staff Psychologist position will report to the Department Head with the USPC Clinic Director serving as the people leader and daytoday manager. The individual must have the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and must exercise sound judgment, be comfortable in a team environment, and have welldeveloped communication and management skills. Providing clinical supervision of student practicum training Monitoring and evaluating student performance as part of the supervisory role Ensuring clinic services adhere to provincial and national standards Generating and managing clinic referrals Forming and maintaining relationships with third parties (e.g., health regions and insurance companies) Providing services directly to clients Keeping accurate and timely records of clinical service provision Providing clinical supervision of junior faculty prior to registration as needed Provision of didactics as part of student onboarding, clinical seminar, or, under special circumstances, could involve teaching formal coursework Qualifications: Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists. Authorized Practice Endorsement (APE) within the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists. Education: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from a CPA accredited program or by a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Preference will be placed on people who have completed a CPA or APA accredited predoctoral internship or residency. Registered Masterslevel psychologists are eligible to apply and will be considered on a casebycase basis. Experience: Training and/or supervised experience in providing clinical supervision. Experience with the administrative and organizational duties involved in managing a clinical practice, including generating and managing referrals, forming and maintaining relationships with relevant third parties (e.g., health regions, insurance companies), appropriate and ethical record keeping, and billing. Skills: The ability to work both independently and collaboratively. A commitment to adhering to ethical and professional standards of practice. Demonstrated understanding of evidencebased practice of supervision, assessment, and intervention. The ability to provide clinical supervision to students working with a range of populations and presenting concerns. The Department seeks a team capable of providing services across the lifespan.
