JOB PURPOSE Under the supervision of the Dean, Community, Health, Trades & Apprenticeships, the Director, Business, will lead the development and delivery of Mamawi for SNP, a landmark five-year Indigenous-led initiative funded by the BHP Foundation that aims to transform entrepreneurship, business, and accounting education for Indigenous learners in colleges and institutes. Concurrently, the Director, Business will work in collaboration with Mamawi partners: CICan, NVIT and SIIT to develop a national strategy that takes into account regional/community needs and cultural differences. Guided by a Governing Circle of Indigenous Institute leaders, the Director will ensure that Mamawi is implemented in a way that upholds Indigenous protocols and knowledge systems. The Director will be an ambassador for SNP and will need to build and maintain positive relationships with the Indigenous communities, post-secondary partners, industry leaders, government and international bodies. The Director is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, learners, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinsh:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ganigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind). KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategic Initiatives and Innovation 25% Evidence based Mamawi program development Contributing to high-level analyses and responses (white papers, shadow reports, position statements, etc.) of inter alia, policy documents, legislation, regulations, and position papers, produced by public and private sector entities, relevant to Indigenous education and educational environments; Advocating for increased resources and recognition by preparing formal responses to government consultations, engagement, and pre-budget submissions; Develop the Strategic plan and Support revisions to the plan; Other related duties as required Program Management 25 % Develop project plans, schedules, assemble resources, monitor, and reporting on progress; Identify and manage risks and issues - reporting to the Dean and Mamawi Governance Circle, as requested; Maintain process and project management records; Develop and manage budgets, as required; Develop an approved annual work plan and corresponding budget for the efficient and effective discharge of all tasks and activities; Other related duties as required Leadership 20% Initiate stakeholder relations; Provide and maintain open communications pertaining to strategic initiatives, innovation and advancement; Represent SNPs vision, mission and purpose and the Mamawi initiative in all discussions and negotiations with external partners, government and corporate officials, and current and potential funders/donors; Monitor strategic initiatives; Participate and maintain a supportive environment conducive to learning and working at SNP; Other related duties as required General Administration 15% Maintain a database of SNPs Mamawi stakeholders; Maintain records of stakeholder meetings and discussions; Conduct an environmental scan and gap analysis, Political, Economic, Social, Technological (PEST) and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis; Maintain records of all research and analysis; Maintain contact with funders and relevant governments; Know, understand, uphold, and follow SNPs policies, processes, and reporting requirements, and support the collaborative development and effective implementation of new and emergent policies and processes; Know, understand, uphold, and follow Mamawi policies, processes and reporting requirements, while supporting the collaborative development and effective implementation of new and emergent policies and processes; Other related duties as required. Liaison 10% Establish an advisory committee; Develop and maintain positive stakeholder relationships; Work in collaboration with Mamawi partners; Other related duties as required EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE Completion of a formal post-secondary college or university program of three to four academic years in Indigenous Studies, Business Administration, Public/International Affairs, project management or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE Over seven years and including ten years of experience lived First Nations, Inuit or Mtis experience and cultural knowledge to guide Indigenous-centred approaches. Leadership and team management experience, including recruitment, professional development, performance management, and fostering collaborative, respectful teams. Expertise in leading multi-partner programs funded by governments, foundations, or similar organizations, with skills in program design, delivery, reporting, and evaluation. Strong understanding of indigenous Knowledge Systems, protocols, governance and partnership approaches, along with a strong commitment to these principles. Demonstrated ability to foster trustbased partnerships with Indigenous communities, institutions, Elders, Knowledge Holders, and other stakeholders. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills and can work collaboratively across cultures, sectors and levels of government. Can operate effectively in complex, multi-partner environments and navigate both Indigenous and Western governance and accountability systems. Strong knowledge of the Indigenous business ecosystem and the education pathways that support it, including Indigenous Institutes and ISET holders across Canada. Leverage networks to advance meaningful, Indigenous-centred outcomes.
