Senior Project Manager Energy and Power Distribution, Testing & Certification Coquitlam, BC Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the worlds leading brands and companies, is seeking a senior project manager to join our Electrical team in Coquitlam, BC. Interteks Electrical team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification for a variety of electric products, including energy transmission and distribution, industrial, appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, information communications technology, and HVACR. Our dedicated professionals help ensure the quality, safety, and sustainability of electrical products used by people throughout the world. What Youll Do Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test). Validate the project scope and sample applicability. Develop, setup and follow established test plans, including performing all required testing of product in accordance with the identified standards and established test plan. Conduct thorough preliminary design reviews and construction reviews, compiling and documenting results. Perform certification and testing work on equipment including but not limited to: Medium and highvoltage switchgear & switchboards Power and distribution transformers Utility and substation control panels Relay and protection panels Gridconnected industrial skids Renewable energy interconnection equipment Utility owned or EPC built assemblies Independently conduct on and offsite testing and evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standard(s). Provide ongoing support and guidance on technical issues, test procedures, and standards interpretations. Research new standards, technologies, and trends in the industry. Represent Intertek on technical committees, code panels and/or associations. Provide ongoing sales support, including attending client meetings, project scoping and quoting. Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing. Within policy guidelines, identify, properly document, and recommend engineering judgments. Mentor less senior personnel. Demonstrate strong product and/or standards knowledge to be considered an expert in multiple product categories for the local office. Perform other work as required. Minimum Requirements & Qualifications Bachelor of Science, Technology, or similar degree with focus on electrical circuits, power & distribution systems, or the equivalent. 10+ years of experience in the field. 3+ years of direct regulatory and compliance experience, specifically dealing with the NRTL and certification process. Prior project management experience. Advanced experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards (ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC). Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently where limited standardization exists. Ability to work in a fastpaced, multitasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines. Must be detailoriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management. Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal, written and presentation formats. Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties. Customer focused and quality driven. Travel up to 50% as business dictates. A valid driver''''s license and reliable driving record is required. Applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in Canada. Preferred Requirements & Qualifications Prior direct experience in power & distribution. Direct experience, knowledge, and familiarity with US, Canadian, and other international product safety standards such as: IEEE C37 series CSA C22.2 No. 244 / UL 891 CSA C22.2 No. 31 / UL 1558 CSA C22.2 No. 286 / UL 508A Exposure To ShortCircuit Testing & Studies Temperature rise testing. Insulation coordination. Grounding & bonding requirements. Prior experience with utilities, EPCs, OEMs, or testing laboratories. Familiarity with other product standards will be seen as an asset (CSA/UL 60335240, UL 9540). Experience and qualifications with quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, etc.).
