Purpose Contributes to the overall success of Equipment Financing in Canadian Commercial Banking by ensuring the execution of sales plans and initiatives that support the teams business strategies. The role focuses on equipment finance and lease transactions from $250,000+ for a range of clients including corporate, institutional, and government. The Relationship Manager is a product specialist who negotiates and structures deals that meet clients financing, accounting, and taxation requirements while adhering to governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. Accountabilities Promote the development and profitable growth of the Canadian Commercial Banking Equipment Financing portfolio Develop and implement a marketing strategy to maximize business development opportunities. Create sales plans for prospects and existing customers. Identify prospects and referrals from internal and external networks. Analyse prospect lists and prioritize opportunities based on market data. Partner with internal resources for noncredit products. Refer customers and prospects to the appropriate segments and partners. Pursue a business development program within the assigned market area Acquire goodquality and profitable equipment finance and lease transactions. Influence and assist Canadian Commercial Banking & Branches to identify and acquire profitable deals. Maintain an ongoing sales pipeline and calling program. Follow up with prospects on any unsuccessful opportunities. Report monthly activities, including prospect and customer calls, joint partner calls, and COI calls. Build and maintain a market profile Plan and execute relationship activities that generate sales opportunities. Build awareness of local market and economic conditions. Meet with business leaders and other centres of influence. Participate in local professional and community events to expand contacts. Liaise with product specialists to stay abreast of new enhancements and fulfill client needs. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and product/service enhancements Communicate changes in services and products to team members and clients. Develop strategies to implement new services and deposit products that fit client needs. Act as a champion of Equipment Financing options. Keep competitors offerings and industry trends current and communicate to team and clients. Ensure ongoing relationship focus Seek customer feedback on products and services. Liaise with the Shared Services Business Support Centre for fulfillment, compliance, and reporting. Adhere to spread targets aligned with ROAC objectives. Suggest improvements to customer satisfaction and processes. Support diversity initiatives and the banks risk culture. Maintain daytoday business controls for operational, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct risks. Promote a highperformance and inclusive work environment. Dimensions Clients are generally in Canada, primarily within the same region but may have operations elsewhere; they are in the Core segment with equipment financing needs from $250,000 to $10,000,000. Expert knowledge of the equipment financing industry, competitors, pricing, security requirements, and product offerings is required. Understanding of leasevsbuy analysis using the Rubicon program, financial statements, and credit structuring. Primary internal partners include Global Risk Management, Business Service Center, Enhanced Due Diligence Unit, CRA, Wealth Management, Global Banking and Markets, and others. Interactions with external parties such as solicitors, accountants, professional service providers, and external bank groups. Service consistent with Scotia Service Standards, Complaint Resolution Standards, and procedures; always look for opportunities to promote additional bank products. The environment is fastpaced, demanding, and may require priority adjustments for urgent requests. Education / Experience Undergraduate degree in business or economics, or equivalent work experience. Additional training as determined by the bank. Skills / Work Experience 25 years of relevant work experience preferred. Very strong sales, closing, networking, negotiation, and communication skills. Strong relationship management and credit skills. Deep knowledge of the banks commercial lending and deposit products and customer profitability model. Ability to assess customer financial strength for moderatetohigher complexity deals. Excellent knowledge of onboarding, KYC, and AML processes. Proficient PC skills with MS Office and commercial systems. Working Conditions Standard officebased environment; nonstandard hours are common. Interprovincial travel required.
