We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager who is technically strong, people-oriented, and capable of taking on expanded ownership within a growing finance organization. In this role, you will lead the accounting function, ensure the integrity of financial reporting, and act as a key partner to Finance leadership and the broader organization. This position also provides exposure to enterprise-scale system transformation, including participation in ERP and finance system initiatives within a multi-entity environment. Role Scope & Growth This role is designed to grow in scope and impact over time. As the business continues to scale and as readiness is demonstrated, the Accounting Manager will have the opportunity to assume broader responsibility across financial reporting, internal controls, and finance leadership. Any future expansion in scope or title will be aligned with business needs and performance. What You Will Own and Lead Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 16 accounting professionals, with at least 4 direct reports, including senior accounting, payroll, billing, and accounts payable leads. Establish clear expectations, accountability, and development plans to build a scalable, high-performing accounting function. Serve as the primary accounting subjectmatter expert across the organization. Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for all Canadian and U.S. entities. Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Act as final reviewer for balance sheet integrity, key reconciliations, accruals, payroll entries, and intercompany activity. Prepare and present financial analysis and insights to executive leadership and lending partners. Controls, Policies & Risk Management Design, implement, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure consistent application of accounting standards and best practices across entities. Proactively identify risks, control gaps, and process improvement opportunities. Treasury, Cash & Banking Oversight Own oversight of cash management, banking activity, and intercompany cash movements. Review and approve wire transfers, monitor financial covenants, and liaise with banking partners. Support treasury forecasting and liquidity planning in collaboration with Finance leadership. External Reporting & Compliance Act as the primary accounting lead for annual financial statement review engagements for the principal Canadian and U.S. entities. Coordinate compilation engagements for additional entities. Oversee indirect tax filings (GST/HST/QST) and support corporate income tax compliance through preparation of schedules, data, and supporting documentation. Systems & Scaling Initiatives Serve as a core contributor within the finance leadership team on ERP and system implementation initiatives, providing accounting insight, supporting testing and validation, and helping align financial processes and controls. Decision Authority & Accountability In this role, you will: Own the integrity and quality of financial reporting outputs. Set and enforce close timelines and accounting standards. Design and improve accounting processes and controls. Lead external accounting relationships. Escalate issues, risks, and recommendations directly to the VP Finance. As the role progresses, decisionmaking authority will expand in alignment with Controller responsibilities. Experience & Qualifications Located ideally Vancouver. We are open to remote candidates within Canada, specifically located in BC and Alberta. Must be able to work PST or MST hours. Alignment with the core Vancouver based team is important. Seniorlevel accounting experience with a professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) in Canada or the United States. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a privatesector environment. Public accounting experience is an asset but not required. Strong fullcycle accounting expertise, including intercompany transactions, multicurrency environments (parent companies and subsidiaries), and treasury activities. Proven experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, journal entries, accruals, depreciation, reconciliations, and balance sheet schedules. Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to build, coach, and retain highperforming teams. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, along with strong working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and online banking platforms. Handson experience with QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online); exposure to NetSuite, Sage, or other ERP systems is an asset. Experience with lending relationships and covenant reporting.
