About The PositionWe are seeking 1 temporary Marketing Communications Specialist to join our Marketing team. This position is unionized and part of the CUPE 1816 Bargaining Unit. The wage for this position is $5,882 - $6,833 per month and is paid at hourly rates with wage increases in accordance with the Collective Agreement. Job SummaryUnder the broad managerial direction of the Assistant Manager, Marketing Communications, the Marketing Communications Specialist provides creative marketing services in the design and delivery of marketing projects to internal stakeholders in accordance with established PBC price, product messaging, and promotion strategies. The role collaborates with external vendors including PBCs public relations organization, advertising agency, and non-agency suppliers; provides communication support to PBC leaders; prepares and edits press releases, articles, and blog posts; identifies, participates in, and coordinates strategic planning of community impact programs including sponsorships and events to increase public awareness of PBC initiatives, products, and services; and proactively maintains networks with internal contacts to ensure knowledge on PBCs insurance products and services, upcoming initiatives, and external factors affecting competitive advantage is current and relevant. Job DutiesMarketing Project Design and DeliveryProvide creative marketing services in the design and delivery of marketing projects to internal stakeholders in accordance with established PBC price, product messaging, and promotion strategies. Review briefing notes and schedules to identify requirements and determine the best approach to engage audiences through suitable channels and tactics; plan project execution.Consult and collaborate with internal stakeholders across the organization to ensure deliverables meet objectives, align with branding and messaging, and provide ongoing project status briefings.Design the overall format and content of marketing collateral (advertising copy, social media, reports, news releases, video scripts) consistent with PBCs brand and style guidelines.Collaborate with Graphic Designers to produce materials, and proof final designs.Facilitate agreement between multiple project stakeholders when there are differing viewpoints.Attend and participate in regular project status meetings to identify and address challenges related to timing and resources.Conduct project sign-off upon completion.Collaborate with external vendors (e.g., video crews, photographers) to ensure PBCs image is accurately represented to external stakeholders. Media RelationsProvide communications support to PBC leaders in situations with potential or actual impact on public perception (e.g., customer complaints) by authoring responses in consultation with management or escalating as per protocols. Prepare and edit press releases, articles, and blog posts for management review prior to publication. Community Impact (Event Production and Sponsorships)Identify, participate in, and coordinate the strategic planning of community impact programs including sponsorships and events to increase public awareness of PBC initiatives, products, and services. General Department SupportProactively pursue, establish, and maintain networks with internal contacts to ensure knowledge on PBCs insurance products and services, upcoming initiatives, and external factors affecting competitive advantage is current and relevant. Identify trends and collaborate with team members and management to capitalize on opportunities within available resources. Produce documents including project progress reports and dashboards from templates. Contribute to the development and maintenance of PBCs corporate brand identity and enhance department processes and procedures. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of marketing approaches through continuous learning. May assist new employees by sharing knowledge and demonstrating duties. Perform other related duties that do not affect the job rating. Qualifications2-year diploma in Marketing, or equivalent.Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.4 years of related experience in a marketing communications role, including:Experience in creative and business writing with emphasis on proactive marketing of business products.Experience developing and coordinating communications campaigns involving multiple stakeholders.Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
