Job Description

Overview Consulting Network Engineer - Industrial IoT, Wireless and Core Networks The network engineer designs, deploys, troubleshoots and supports network solutions for a wide array of clients as part of the advanced network team. Communications and teamwork skills are essential for work across sectors including mining, telecom, health care, government, utilities, education, research, and financial services. ESTI helps clients build technology solutions with software developers, systems and network architects, and project delivery specialists. Our employees enjoy a small, agile company focused on quality. We are seeking a network specialist who can adapt to client needs and is willing to work away from a desk in varied environments. You will experience a wide variety of technologies and have access to training opportunities to learn quickly. This position should reside in Saskatoon. What will you do? - Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless radios - Diagnose network issues quickly to determine if the network is at fault or to fix it when needed - Carry a laptop and a tool bag - Survey wireless coverage with a map on a laptop - Comply with client requirements such as drug tests and WHMIS training - Understand how applications run on IP networks - Learn evolving Cisco, VMware, Dell and Palo Alto technologies - Rack and cable gear in climate-controlled data centers - Rack and cable gear in challenging environments (e.g., underground or site-specific installations) - Virtually set up and configure gear in AWS, Azure, or GCP - Adhere to safety requirements, including wearing a hard hat, steel-toe boots, and reflective coveralls as required by client site - Learn quickly during office hours and independently - Accurately track time spent on a project daily - Travel occasionally, typically within western Canada - Support mill and mine controls on the same network as other services in the environment Qualifications and Skills - 5 years of experience in a related role - CCNA/CCNP in routing and switching or wireless, or CWNA would be an asset - Strong understanding of IP routing and switching theory, TCP/UDP protocol operations, L2/L3 forwarding - Willingness to travel Today we work with: - Cisco routing and switching platforms (ISR/ASR, Catalyst, Nexus, Industrial Ethernet switches), Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco UCS, and Cisco wireless LAN controllers - OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP - Cisco Meraki MX, MS, and MR - Cisco ISE and multiple RADIUS options for remote access VPN and wireless authentication - VMware NSX and Cisco ACI - Velocloud, Meraki, and Viptela SD-WAN - Industrial protocols such as MODBUS, PROFINET, CIP, BACNet on IP networks - A team including senior and expert staff in CCIE, CWNE, CCNP, VMware, EMC, AWS and Oracle specialists, PMPs and SCMPs - A flexible environment with training investments and opportunities to advance skills - Competitive total compensation - No managed services and no on-call responsibilities - Health-care spending account We are an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
