The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) is looking to fill the following career opportunity: STATUS: Permanent; Full-Time with benefits SHIFT: 35 hours per week LOCATION: Provincial Office in Vancouver, BC - Hybrid (2 days per week at the office) CLASSIFICATION: Exempt As a Specialist, Corporate Philanthropy & Partnerships at the BC SPCA youll be joining one of the most innovative and successful fundraising teams in Canada. The BC SPCA is funded by compassionate animal lovers who helped us assist nearly 119,000 animals last year. Your work will help make all of this possible. As the Specialist, Corporate Philanthropy & Partnerships you will lead the fundraising activities with companies of all sizes in various industries, to achieve annual revenue goals. The role of Specialist, Corporate Philanthropy & Partnerships - As part of the Philanthropy team, led by the Senior Director, Philanthropy, youll lead the strategy development and execution of multi-year corporate fundraising strategies to achieve high value revenue targets. - Youre responsible for leading the corporate fundraising program including: - Prospect research, cultivation, solicitation and meaningful, creative and appropriate stewardship - Creating plans with long term vision in support of annual fundraising needs and special projects such as capital campaigns - Leading the corporate sponsorship program, including finding creative solutions for the sponsors objectives that also achieve the BC SPCAs strategic goals - You are responsible for mentoring and guiding one direct report. - Youll be collaborating with other staff across the organization to ensure sponsorship deliverables are met. - Youd be working directly with partners, prospects, and volunteers. - You are expected to utilize appropriate measures and metrics to evaluate the success of your program areas and provide regular reporting as required. - You are supported and encouraged to develop and maintain relationships with industry peers and maintain a commitment to continued education, learning, and innovation. While every day is different, a day in this role might include: - Hosting a potential corporate sponsor for a tour of one of our Community Animal Centres. - Supporting a colleague in another region to ensure the BC SPCA name, logo and brand is accurately utilized and represented by a local corporate supporter. - Spending the day with a corporate volunteer group at our Community Pet Food Bank program. What type of person are you? - Motivated and innovative problem-solver - Empathetic and relation-centric (with donors, colleagues, animals etc) - Adaptable and open to change - Philosophical harmony with the mission, vision, and guiding principles of the BC SPCA. What skills have you developed? - University degree in relevant discipline plus 8+ years experience in fundraising with specialization in corporate philanthropy; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer. - You can demonstrate an understanding of big picture fundraising and how corporate philanthropy fits in. - You have in-depth knowledge and experience of corporate philanthropy best practices, trends and opportunities. - You have a demonstrated capacity to strategically guide and professionally develop direct reports. - You are a clear and persuasive communicator, both written and oral, including an ability to relate respectfully to a diverse audience. - You know when something is your responsibility and when you have to escalate something. If you dont know, youll ask for help. - When you see a problem or an opportunity to make something better you bring forward solutions. - Youre great at information gathering: determining what youll need, sourcing it, analyzing, distilling and reporting back. - You are comfortable using data: establishing data points, accurate record keeping, collecting data, using data to support initiatives, and to demonstrate success, need or areas of concern. - You know at least one CRM well and are open to learning others (we use Raisers Edge). - You have experience using a graphic design program and are open to learning others (we use Adobe and Canva). - You are proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and have a good sense of the tricks and processes for mail merge, formulas, styles templates, etc. (and are eager to learn when you dont!) - You are able to thrive in an open concept and fast-paced work environment - Full time salaried position. - Three weeks vacation plus twelve sick days. - BC SPCA Public Engagement & Advancement unit operates on a hybrid work model and offers opportunities for a modified work week. - Competitive extended health benefits on the 1st of the 4th month of employment. - Employer RRSP matching available on the 1st of the 4th month of employment - Positive work-place culture of collaboration, innovation and respect. - And yes, there are dogs in the officeevery single day (and sometimes other animals too!
