An established and rapidly growing environmental services organization in Northwest British Columbia is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead its operations and guide the next phase of growth and impact. Working within one of Canadas most environmentally significant coastal regions, this organization delivers environmental monitoring, consulting, and stewardship services supporting major marine, infrastructure, and resource projects while protecting the long-term health of the surrounding ecosystems. The General Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of environmental initiatives, including marine and terrestrial monitoring programs, environmental assessments, and consulting services. This role requires a confident and collaborative leader who can balance commercial growth with environmental responsibility while building strong relationships with industry partners, community leadership, and government agencies. The successful candidate will bring strong technical understanding, business leadership, and the ability to guide complex projects in partnership with local communities and industrial stakeholders.DescriptionProvide overall leadership and direction for the environmental services organization, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operational delivery.Oversee marine and terrestrial environmental monitoring programs including marine mammal observation, water quality monitoring, soil sampling, and acoustic monitoring initiatives.Manage environmental consulting and monitoring projects supporting major energy, port, infrastructure, and industrial developments throughout Northwest British Columbia.Lead project planning and contract execution, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards.Develop and implement strategic business plans, identify growth opportunities, and prepare proposals for new projects and partnerships.Build and maintain relationships with industry clients, government agencies, community leadership, and other key stakeholders.Ensure full compliance with federal, provincial, and local environmental regulations and permitting requirements.Oversee environmental assessment processes and support consultation and review activities related to projects within the territory.Mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team of environmental professionals while supporting capacity building and local employment opportunities.Manage external contractors and consultants while maintaining high standards of technical excellence and safety.RequirementsTen or more years of progressive leadership experience in environmental consulting, environmental management, or related industries.Demonstrated success managing environmental monitoring programs, consulting projects, or environmental assessment initiatives.Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and monitoring requirements related to marine, fisheries, and land-based development in British Columbia.Professional designation such as RPBio, REM, CEP, CPEA, CESM, QEP or similar environmental accreditation is highly desirable.Advanced degree in environmental science, fisheries science, environmental management, or a related discipline is preferred.Strong business acumen including budgeting, proposal development, project management, and client relationship management.Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with industry, government, and community stakeholders.Experience working in smaller, coastal, or remote communities is considered a strong asset.Corporate CultureBase salary expected to be approximately $140,000 or higher, commensurate with experience.Performance-based variable compensation program.Relocation assistance available.Housing support available.The OpportunityThis role offers the opportunity to lead a respected environmental services organization operating within one of Canadas most significant coastal regions.
