Once eligible, the successful candidate will have access to exceptional benefits and enrollment in a defined benefits pension plan.TEMPORARY LIBRARY CLERK (L5) - ADVOCACY DEPARTMENTPosition SummaryReporting to the Director and Associate Director in Advocacy, the Librarian plays a vital role in supporting the union by maintaining and enhancing the internal library collection, legal resource systems, and digital subscriptions. This position supports staff, members, and students by facilitating access to legal and research materials, assisting with privacy-related file work, and coordinating research services. The Librarian ensures the accuracy and accessibility of resources, assists with records and information governance, and provides input on information management practices.CANDIDATE PROFILEThe successful candidate will have the following:Key Responsibilities:Library and Research ServicesMaintain and update the unions library collection, including digital and physical materials.Assist in locating specialized legal and historical materials.Conduct legal and legislative searches, including collective agreement history and arbitration decisions.Facilitate orientation sessions for new staff on library resources and tools.Receive, categorize, and archive settlement agreements, arbitration awards, LRB decisions, court rulings, and other formal decisions.Manage concluded grievance files related to arbitration decisions.Maintain and improve library procedures and documentation.Contribute to Advocacy Department reporting, including preparing content for Section Reports to the Provincial Executive.Digital Subscriptions and Tools AdministrationManage subscriptions and access to research platforms such as: Westlaw, Lexis+, CLEBC, BC Online, BC Registries, LabourLawOnline, BCToday, and online newspaper accounts.Liaise with external vendors and subscription providers.Track expenditures related to publications and subscriptions and provide regular updates and recommendations to the Director of Advocacy.Oversee use of tools and software including:Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Confluence, and Jira Service Desk.Privacy and Records ManagementSupport the unions Privacy Officer by: Opening files, requesting responsive records, tracking, and processing personal information requests.Redacting and severing records under the guidance of the Privacy Officer.Communicating with members and staff regarding privacy requests.Password protecting and securely providing finalized documents.Facilitating the secure destruction of privacy files.Collaborate with Records Management to coordinate the timely and appropriate destruction of grievance records.Education & Experience:Library and Information Technology Diploma or equivalent experience.Minimum 24 years of experience in an administrative or library setting, ideally within a legal, union, or advocacy environment.Experience with database management and information systems.Training or coursework in legal research or privacy is considered an asset.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong library research skills and familiarity with arbitration and collective agreement frameworks.Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data management.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.High attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and preparing reports.Salary Range:$39.15 - $42.55 per hourPlease note that temporary and probationary employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements.Hours of work are 32 per week, 4 days.How to Apply:Please review the attached job description for full details on duties, qualifications, and competencies.
