Job Title: Automation Engineer Job Description The Automation Engineer will primarily focus on automation tasks with occasional electrical engineering responsibilities. This role involves programming, designing, commissioning, and providing support for large power generation systems and associated electrical equipment. Responsibilities Program PLCs and HMIs. Design control panels. Design switchgear, MCC, HVAC, VFD, Cable Trays, Station Service, and auxiliary electrical loads. Design interconnections and interfaces between various electrical equipment. Create BOMs, Cable Schedules, and Operation Manuals. Commission equipment at customer sites. Perform I/O checks to ensure correct circuit wiring. Conduct functional tests. Train operators on the function of the equipment. Debug and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems. Provide support to field technicians. Essential Skills Extensive experience in electrical engineering and PLC programming with a variety of PLC brands. Minimum of three years of PLC programming experience. Three years of HMI programming experience. Field commissioning experience. Proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical design. Knowledge of CSA/CEC standards. Familiarity with Modbus (RT or TCP/IP) and its applications. Willingness to travel for commissioning up to six weeks a year. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong preference for candidates with Schneider and Emerson programming experience. DCS programming experience. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Surrey, BC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $46.15 - $53.85/hr.
