Position Summary The Entry-Level Estimator will support the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for concrete formwork projects. The successful candidate will learn to review drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, and assist in preparing bid submissions. *Please note that this is an in-office role, and only candidates who can commute to our Burnaby, BC office will be considered, as we promote a dynamic and collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities Review structural drawings, specifications, tender documents, and revisions to ensure scope accuracy. Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare cost estimates for concrete formwork, including labor, materials, and equipment. Assist in coordinating and reviewing construction drawings during both the tendering phase and active project execution. Request, evaluate, and review quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. Maintain an organized estimating database, including project estimates, revisions, and historical cost data for future reference. Review site instructions and prepare pricing for change orders. Assist in identifying project risks and developing appropriate contingency plans. Coordinate with project managers, project coordinators, and senior estimators to ensure clear scope definition and alignment. Learn and follow Lane Constructions estimating standards, procedures, and documentation formats. Qualifications Working towards or having completed a post-secondary education with a diploma degree in construction management, estimating, quantity surveying, engineering, or related education. Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment, and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset. Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting. Knowledge in AutoCAD, Office 365, Bluebeam and on-screen take-offs. Strong attention to detail Ability to read construction drawings Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
