For more information visit Reporting to the Senior Geologist the Exploration Field Technician is responsible for a wide range of tasks to support exploration and mine geology operations Location: Blackwater Mine site Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract Responsibilities Diamond Drilling Assist with detailed core logging including collection of RQD, core recovery, magnetic susceptibility, and specific gravity data. Photograph drill core according to company standards. Cut core using a diamond blade core saw. Collect core samples including regular insertion of blanks, standards and duplicates. Prepare samples and chain of custody documents for dispatch to external laboratories. Ensuring logging and sampling data in organized, accessible and ready for integration into a geologic database. Reverse Circulation Drilling Collect samples from the Reverse Circulation (RC) drill and record basic drill hole and sample information. Monitor drilling sample quality. Deliver samples from the drill to the prep lab. Prepare and label sample bags for the RC drill. Adhere to sample preparation procedures to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of analytical results. Prepare samples for delivery to the external laboratory facility, recording relevant information such sample weight, sample ID number Perform basic sample preparation including drying, weighing and operating a riffle splitter. Qualifications Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an outdoor environment. Knowledge of drilling operations or working in a lab setting is an asset. Experience running small equipment ie. skid-steer, forklift, telehandler is an asset. Basic computers skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets) are an asset Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced team members. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and responsibilities. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver''s license. Preferred Skills: Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.
