Job Description In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Painter performs skilled painting work at the journeyman level in the preparation of materials, equipment and surfaces, and the selection and application of paint, varnish, stain, wall coverings and/or other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And Experience Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Painter and Decorator recognized by the Province of BC Two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Class 5 vehicle license. Skills And Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
