Director of Corporate AccountingWe are seeking an experienced and collaborative senior finance leader to oversee Corporate Accounting, Payroll, and key financial reporting functions across a diverse, multientity organization. This role is ideal for a relationshipbuilder who leads with professionalism, service, and strong communication skills, and who thrives in developing highperforming teams. You will partner closely with the CFO and crossfunctional leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and a culture of continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Accounting team and broader Finance organization.Foster a supportive, collaborative, and serviceoriented culture in partnership with the CFO.Directly oversee the Corporate Accounting team and the Payroll & Benefits Administration team.Build team capability through coaching, training, and performance management.Core Functional Responsibilities: Accounting & Financial ReportingOversee accounting practices for all investmentbased operations, including construction and design entities, capital corporations, development businesses, joint ventures, partnerships, and real estate holdings (including property tax administration).Lead consolidation activities across all required levels of the organizational structure.Prepare and issue external financial statements at both entity and consolidated levels.Maintain and review balance sheet reconciliations within Corporate Accounting's scope.Ensure accurate accounting for business acquisitions and combinations in collaboration with Legal, Tax, and other internal teams.Audit, Compliance & ControlsLead and coordinate external audits across the organization.Oversee preparation and submission of bank reporting required under loan agreements.Partner with the Director of Management Accounting to:Execute timely and accurate periodend, quarterend, and yearend closes.Resolve audit findings, discrepancies, and compliance issues.Strengthen internal controls and safeguard financial reporting integrity.Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and policy updates.Payroll & Benefits OversightSupervise the Payroll & Benefits team to ensure:Accurate and consistent compensation and benefits processing.Effective administration of all bonus and incentive programs (operational bonuses, STIP, and others).Strong collaboration with HR and Legal on employmentrelated practices.A reliable and positive employee experience.CrossFunctional CollaborationPartner with FP&A to prepare and distribute periodend financial reports that support informed decisionmaking across business units.Support the CFO in managing the organization's property and liability insurance portfolio.Provide leadership for the Financial Accounting system (D365), ensuring accurate and efficient financial data management.Collaborate with FP&A and the CFO on ownership and boardlevel reporting.Support senior leadership with special projects as needed.Continuous ImprovementChampion a culture of service excellence, automation, and process optimization.Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce duplication, and elevate the effectiveness of all finance functions.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; CPA designation preferred.10+ years of progressively senior experience in Finance or Accounting, including team leadership.Strong knowledge of Canadian private company GAAP (ASPE).Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset.Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across teams.Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff.Selfmotivated, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, BC.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $165000.00 - $185000.00/yr.Workplace TypeThis is a hybrid position in Vancouver,BC.About Aston CarterAston Carter provides world-class corporate talent solutions to thousands of clients across the globe.
