Humans of HR is partnering with a growing, multi-site manufacturing organization in Greater Vancouver to hire a hands-on CAD Manager to lead technical engineering and programming functions across two facilities.This role oversees CAD, CAM, and order-entry workflows supporting precision metal manufacturing operations. It blends leadership, technical depth, customer interaction, and shop-floor engagement.If you enjoy bridging engineering and production this is a high-impact role.What Youll Be Responsible For:Lead and mentor a technical team responsible for CAD modeling, CNC programming, and order processingTranslate customer drawings into production-ready models, routings, and documentationOversee CNC programming to optimize efficiency, material utilization, and repeatabilityReview and approve drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and shop documentationEnsure strong design-for-manufacturing (DFM) standards across both sitesPartner with production, quality, and sales teams to improve speed and accuracyDrive standardization, workflow improvements, and automation initiativesSupport prototypes, first articles, and new product introductionsThis role requires time both in the office and on the shop floor it is not a desk-only engineering position.What Were Looking For:8+ years in a CNC-driven sheet metal or machine shop environment4+ years leading or mentoring technical teamsStrong SolidWorks and CAD/CAM proficiencyHands-on understanding of punching, laser cutting, bending, machining, welding, and assemblyExperience with nesting/programming software (e.g., SigmaNest, TruTops, RADAN, MetaCAM or similar)ERP familiarity and exposure to order-entry workflowsLean / continuous improvement mindsetWhy This Role Stands Out:Multi-site leadership exposureDirect influence on production efficiency and qualityInvolvement in automation and digital process improvementsStable organization with growth momentumCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefitsThis is an opportunity for a technically strong leader who wants visibility, ownership, and real operational impact.
