Overview We are looking for an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to serve as a regional lead for Paladin Technologies (PTI) activities in the Pacific Northwest. This position will be based in Vancouver and reports to the Director of Occupational Health and Safety. The OHS Specialist will support the development and implementation of PTIs corporate OHS, Claims Management, and Recovery at Work programs within the region. The role promotes a risk-forward culture of safety, working closely with regional management and colleagues to foster a safe working environment. Key responsibilities include maintaining OHS certifications, providing technical guidance on OHS documentation, performing site inspections, maintaining OHS statistics, coordinating investigations, and supporting corporate initiatives. Travel of approximately 1025% of the time is required. RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee OHS, Claims Management, and Recovery at Work programs as they relate to operations in the region. Work with stakeholders to develop and implement OHS policies, plans, assessments, and communications supporting safe project delivery. Attend project sites to validate OHS process implementation, provide guidance, and coach local teams. Facilitate incident investigations, ensuring action plans are completed on time. Identify system, program, and training opportunities and align them with corporate OHS requirements. Monitor workers compensation claims for legitimacy, trends, and cost control. Support early and safe return to work for injured employees. Provide lagging statistics and develop leading key performance indicators for local leaders. Coordinate annual OHS audits and monitor corrective actions. Maintain awareness of regional OHS legislation. Support client compliance portal accounts (ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, Avetta, etc.). Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring corporate OHS initiatives. Perform additional duties as the position and organization evolve. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of progressive OHS experience in a construction environment. A degree/diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent experience. Experience reviewing and interpreting OHS legislation relevant to construction health and safety in the region. Demonstrable knowledge of construction industry best practices for worker health and safety. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in an OHS role at multiemployer construction work sites, preferably on behalf of a prime contractor. Experience developing OHS documentation, risk assessments, and exposure control plans for hazardous materials and confined spaces. Certified auditor or willingness to complete necessary training courses. Active pursuit of professional OHS designations (NCSO, CRSP, ROH, etc.). Experience using contractor compliance portals such as ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, Avetta. Basic understanding of ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001. Experience with learning management systems and training gap analysis. DEMONSTRATED PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES Effective organizational, prioritization, and time management skills. Clear communication and coaching of complex information. English reading, writing, speaking proficiency. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365. Flexibility for required travel and hours. Class5 driving licence and access to a personal vehicle in Alberta. Independent implementation of OHS strategies. Business acumen and industryspecific language understanding. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Effective communication in English (see, hear, speak, write). Manual dexterity for occasional reaching, lifting light office items, and operating equipment. Ability to sit, stand, walk in office and construction environments. Occasional lifting up to 50pounds and potential work at heights over 1.8m. WORKING CONDITIONS Clean, orderly, welllit & ventilated office environment. Onsite presence with customers or contractors, varying from office to new construction settings. Driving to customer sites required. Limited overnight travel may be required.
