Gainer the Gopher is a critical part of our game day experience, presence in the community, and persona as the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club. As one of the most recognizable ambassadors of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Gainer helps bring our brand to life by creating unforgettable moments for fans of all ages. We are seeking an engaging, energetic, and outgoing individual who is passionate about connecting with people, spreading Rider pride, and creating positive, memorable interactions wherever they go. Whether it''s game day at Mosaic Stadium or a community appearance throughout our province, Gainer represents the heart, spirit, and fun of Rider Nation. Duties and Responsibilities: As one of the performers behind Gainer, you will be responsible for bringing the mascot''s personality to life in a way that is entertaining, professional, and on-brand. Key responsibilities include: Learn, embody, and adapt the Gainer persona while maintaining brand consistency Engage with fans through non-verbal interaction including high-fives, hugs, dancing, cheering, and posing for photos Perform in front of large crowds during on-field activations Represent the Saskatchewan Roughriders at community events, appearances, and special activations Maintain high energy, enthusiasm, and creativity throughout each appearance Create memorable and positive experiences for fans at every interaction Work collaboratively with game day staff, marketing, and community teams to support event objectives Show initiative and act with appropriate independence Collaborate with handler to maintain fan and mascot safety Prepare for all games and events by reviewing scripts, run through cues, and rehearse performances Put Rider Nation and the Fans first at all times Requirements Ideal Candidate Skills & Qualifications: Outgoing, energetic, and friendly are non-negotiables Strong non-verbal communication and physical storytelling skills Comfortable performing in front of large crowds and interacting with fans of all ages Confident improviser who can adapt quickly while staying in character Ability to remain in character at all times while in costume Must be adaptable to change, able to work under pressure and comfortable in a fast-paced environment Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Previous mascot experience is preferred but not required Live performance experience is an asset (theatre, dance, cheer, hype team, acting, etc.) Ability to handle the physical demands of performing in costume for extended periods (3 hours in summer heat) Sports knowledge (especially football) is an asset Must reside in Saskatchewan. Travel to and from Regina is not a covered expense Key notes: Must have a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to locations around the province Must be both punctual and reliable - Gainer can''t keep his fans waiting Must be 18 years of age or older Due to the nature of this position and its interaction with youth and/or vulnerable individuals, a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, is required before employment can begin Benefits How to apply: We''d love to receive your resume along with a link to your video reel.
