The work of this class entails the safe and efficient operation of equipment designed to collect and transport residential and commercial solid waste. Under the direction of a Foreman or delegate, the position operates equipment, collects and sorts residential waste and performs minor equipment servicing, washing and other related duties efficiently with minimal supervision. A vehicle of this type generally has a GVW in excess of 25,000 kilograms. The work of this class is distinguished from what of the Truck Driver III by the greater complexity of operation and greater responsibility. Work is reviewed and evaluated by a supervisor in terms of safe and efficient vehicle operations, provision of collection service and in meeting assigned schedules. The Training Manual Requirements pre-qualifications for this position are: Successful completion of the internal training program for Solid Waste Operator The Class Specification requires a Driver''s License for the Province of British Columbia Class 3 with Air Endorsement, and is a job requirement.
