Description Position #: / V49800 Expected Start Date: March 30, 2026 Union: SUN Facility: Regina General Hospital City/Town: Regina Department: Obstetrics Specialty Clinic - Fetal Assessment Unit Type: Part-time temporary Expected Up to Date: September 30, 2027 FTE: 0.43 Hours of Work: 96 HR/6 WKS; 12 SHIFTS OF 8 HR; Shift Information : Days Scheduled hours of work may be reduced (if applicable) during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period Relief: No Float: No Field Hours: No Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Nurse B $42.040 to $52.440 Travel Required: No Job Description: The Diabetes Nurse Educator integrates knowledge, skills and the principles of teaching and learning, in the provision of diabetes education and quality care for clients, families, the general public and health professionals. Teaching can occur in inpatient, outpatient or community settings, with individuals or groups. The incumbent is responsible for assessing learning needs and planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for clients/families/health professionals. The Diabetes Nurse Educator will use a consultative approach, accepted standards and guidelines and current research findings to provide support to clients and health care professionals as appropriate. The position may have specific responsibilities requiring specialized clinical knowledge to meet the client''s needs such as diabetes in pregnancy or children with diabetes. Human Resources Exemption: No Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Experience Requires a minimum of three (3) years experience related to the clinical area within the past five (5) years one (1) year previous experience in adult education. program/resource development related to needs assessment, planning, program design, implementation, and evaluation; Teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities. Knowledge , Skills and Abilities Ability to integrate principles of adult learning, nursing theory and evidence based practice into educational programming and clinical support. Ability to identify core competencies and assesses learning needs of the nursing staff in consultation with the Clinical Manager and other stakeholders. Ensures evidence based practice guidelines and clinical research findings are incorporated into the development of policies and standards of practice. Promotes a strong interdisciplinary team, by working in collaboration with other health care professionals. Acts as a role model, mentor and clinical expert resource for nursing staff in regards to professional development and clinical competence. Provides nursing leadership that is visible, pro-active, professional and respectful while promoting the delivery of high quality client and family centered care through the application of evidence based practice. Promotes a safe and healthy work environment. Provides clinical leadership and support in a rapidly changing and highly complex environment. Engages nursing staff in strategies and decisions related to professional practice and education. Promotes and encourages the professional growth and development of nursing staff and other professionals. Timely and accurate decision-making and the ability to move back and forth between tasks and projects. Demonstrates conflict resolution in crisis situations related to clients, families, staff and physicians and other departments, particularly related to clinical problem solving.
