Join Our Team as a Casual/On-Call Waste & Recycling Sorter $18$22 per hour | Vancouver (Downtown & South Vancouver) Looking for dependable, hands-on work where you can see the impact of your effort every shift? We are hiring Casual / On-Call Waste & Recycling Sorters to support our growing waste diversion operations. This role is ideal for individuals who value precision, teamwork, and contributing to environmental impact in a practical way. Pay & Schedule Pay: $18$22 per hour Shift Types: Day and Afternoon shifts only (no overnight/graveyard shifts) Availability Requirement: Must be available to work Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays (preferred for permanent part-time consideration) Additional shifts may include weekends or extended hours during large events Typical shifts range from 68+ hours Key Responsibilities Sort waste and recycling materials according to detailed diversion guidelines Weigh materials before and after sorting Accurately record weight and contamination data using company-issued technology (phones/iPads) Maintain a clean and organized sorting station, including mopping and equipment upkeep Lift and move materials (up to 50 lbs) Work safely and cooperatively in an industrial loading bay environment Identify material trends and suggest process improvements Support event-based operations during peak periods Work Environment Bright, covered, open-air industrial loading bay Designated sorting stations Personal staff lockers provided Assignments may be at either Downtown Vancouver or South Vancouver locations Requirements Must be bondable and able to pass a criminal record check Legally eligible to work in Canada Able to stand and work on your feet for extended periods (8+ hours) Able to lift up to 50 lbs safely Strong attention to detail and ability to follow sorting procedures precisely Comfortable using phones/iPads for data entry Able to work independently and as part of a team Strong judgment and ability to work efficiently under time pressure Fluent in spoken and written English Comfortable working in dynamic environments and varying weather conditions Safety-first mindset Previous recycling or waste handling experience is an asset (not required) What We Offer Extended health and dental benefits after 90 days (for employees consistently working 20+ hours per week) Supportive, safety-focused work culture Team-building events and company activities A clean, well-maintained industrial work environment Opportunities to grow into permanent part-time roles Why Work With Us?
