The Nurse practices in a variety of clinical settings, and communities, and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) /Registered Nurse (RN) ensures the delivery of clientcentered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs. The incumbent demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities. Rural community hospitals provide a wide range of services and depending on the location may require the RPN/RN to be competent in multiple clinical settings. This job description addresses various scenarios where nurses are required to work in one or more areas requiring advanced training & experience. Registered Psychiatric Nurse will be assigned to work in the designated settings such as mental health, long term care, primary care network with mental health clients and IOAT. Northern Health Regional Perinatal Training Program Details There are 6 training positions available for 2025/2026. Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required. Learners should expect to make a 4-6 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, will be required to successfully complete the program Flexibility for practicums is necessary Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program. Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions.
