Software Development Manager, Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) - Outbound/Flow We are seeking a talented technical professional with strong software engineering and people management skills to be our Software Development Manager. You will manage a team building large-scale distributed systems that power Amazon''''s fulfillment centers worldwide. The successful candidate will manage an existing team of software development engineers, partnering with other managers, to design, build, and operate innovative picking software. With a high degree of ownership, you will develop our proprietary solutions end-to-end. Key Responsibilities Manage overall software development life-cycle Lead multiple software engineers in one team Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management Work closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach Foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics Hire, coach, and mentor individuals; build a strong crossfunctional organization Work with a diverse customer base to understand requirements, priorities, and processes Own all operational metrics and support Drive a better customer experience through everything that we do here at AmazonBring innovative ideas to the table every day to find better ways of accomplishing customer objectives Set clear, measurable quality goals for the team in a datadriven way Amazon Leadership Principles for Leaders Demonstrate excellent judgment, are right a lot Hire and develop the best people Dive deep and never be out of touch with the details of the business Strong resultsoriented approach Think big and have a bias for action Deal well with ambiguity Basic Qualifications 3+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling) 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multitier web services Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and livsited operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred Qualifications Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage Maternity and Parental Leave Options Paid Time Off (PTO) Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
