Location: Toronto, ON Role Descriptions / Key Responsibilities Champion the use of GitHub Copilot and other AI developer tools. Train and mentor developers on effective AI-assisted coding practices: prompting, test generation, and documentation acceleration. Establish best practices, coding standards, and guidelines for AI-driven software development. Identify opportunities to reduce development time and improve code quality using AI tools. Build and maintain backend services using Java, Node.js, or Python. Architect scalable systems using serverless, containerized, or microservices patterns on AWS. Integrate AI logic into backend workflows, APIs, and event-driven systems. Implement secure, efficient, and well-structured code ready for production environments. Technical Leadership Lead design reviews, provide architectural guidance, and mentor junior engineers. Work closely with product owners, cloud engineers, and DevOps teams on AI-enabled delivery. Define roadmaps for AI adoption and help scale AI maturity across the organization. Build and optimize AI workloads on AWS using Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, and Step Functions. Collaborate with data engineering teams to prepare datasets for AI and feature engineering. Ensure compliance with security, governance, and cloud best practices. Required Qualifications 9-11 years of backend engineering experience (Java, Node.js, Python) with 1-2 years of AI experience. Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot or equivalent AI coding tools. Strong experience integrating AI/ML solutions using cloud-native services (preferably AWS). Strong understanding of API design, microservices architecture, and distributed backend systems. Solid experience with AWS compute, storage, networking, and IAM. Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and Git-based version control.
