Counsel is responsible for providing legal opinions for various corporate-related matters and prepares, reviews, and vets corporate contracts and agreements of moderate to high complexity for SGI and its regional operations. The role also involves direct relationships with the business areas of the corporation.**Key Accountabilities** *Note: This section is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.* Maintains an in-depth knowledge of insurance law and stays current with legal decisions, precedents, and industry trends and practices that impact the corporations lines of business. with years of practice, experience, and legal Acts as a mentor to members of the Legal Division, helping them enhance their skills and deepen their knowledge in specialized areas. **Education**A Law Degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution. **Experience**Experience in the general practice of law with a focus on corporate insurance law. At minimum, candidates must have successfully completed articles and be a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Knowledge of legislation and regulations in the applicable jurisdiction that directly or indirectly impact the corporations core business (e.g., Knowledge of insurance practices, including best practices and legal implications that impact on the corporations lines of business. Knowledge of corporate/commercial and procurement legislation that directly or indirectly impacts SGIs business operations. Skilled in verbal and written communication with the ability to present complex legal issues with clarity to key stakeholders and all levels of management in all business and functional areas. Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify barriers, simplify complex issues, communicate clearly, and implement effective solutions.Ability to identify key issues and provide an independent view to management in a clear and practical manner. Ability to adapt to changing and/or ambiguous priorities, initiatives, or requirements, prioritize and organize work while balancing multiple demands and deadlines.
