POSITION OVERVIEW Applications are invited for a one-year fellowship in Surgical Pathology with a subspecialty focus, commencing July 1, 2026. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority in association with Saskatoon City Hospital, Royal University Hospital and St.Pauls Hospital is an oncologic and provincial biomarker referral centre for Saskatchewan. The department employs 23 pathologists and handles approximately 51,000 surgical and 10,000 nongynecologic cytology specimens annually. In addition, Saskatoon is one of handful of centres across the country that has a mixture of both subspecialised and general surgical pathology practices. We have subspecialized pathologists working in the fields of gastrointestinal/liver, gynecologic, dermatologic, genitourinary, renal, breast, cyto and pediatric pathology. The substantial volume of case material, the exceptional quality of the faculty and the highly conducive academic environment together create a setting that enables future fellows to enrich their educational experience, refine diagnostic expertise and actively engage in meaningful research. RESPONSIBILITIES Fellowship in Surgical Pathology with a subspecialty focus in two of the following: GI/Liver, Gynecologic, Breast. Other or individual subspecialty requests will also be considered on a casebycase basis. Allocate most of the fellow's time to clinical service. Participate in one or more independent research projects suitable for peerreview publication; option to choose between an elective or research month. Participate in medical student and resident teaching and present at disciplinespecific seminars and rounds. Provide independent signout. Location primarily at Saskatoon City Hospital. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Minimum requirements include: MD (or equivalent) degree. Certification in General or Anatomical Pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Eligibility for provisional licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan; eligibility to practice independently is regarded as an asset.
