Senior Financial Controller (Construction General Contractor) Location: Abbotsford, BC (In-Office)Compensation: $130,000 $140,000A well-established and growing Commercial Construction General Contractor with projects across British Columbia and select smaller projects in other neighboring provinces is seeking a Senior Financial Controller to join its Abbotsford, BC office. This is a key leadership role driven by growth, supporting a $150M+ annual organization managing approximately 1520 active projects at any given time.Must HavesCPA designation or equivalent senior-level Controller experience within the construction industryMinimum 35 years of experience in a senior finance role with a General Contractor or large subcontractorStrong expertise in WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and job cost analysisExtensive experience with progress billings, subcontractor billings, and holdbacksProven experience managing and developing an accounting teamAdvanced knowledge of project cost control and construction financial reportingExperience overseeing full-cycle accounting in a multi-project environmentStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple active jobs simultaneouslyAbility to work full-time in-office in Abbotsford, BCNice to HavesExperience with Spectrum ERP (Trimble platform)Exposure to interprovincial projects including familiarity with interprovincial tax considerations and filingsExperience in a $100M+ revenue construction environmentExperience supporting executive leadership in scaling and process improvement initiativesBackground in improving reporting systems, internal controls, and financial processes during periods of growthResponsibilitiesOversee all financial operations for a commercial construction portfolio of approximately 1520 active projectsLead and manage a team consisting of Accounts Payable, Project Accounting, and an Assistant ControllerOwn WIP reporting, job cost tracking, forecasting, and margin analysis across all active projectsReview and oversee progress billings, subcontractor billings, and holdback managementPartner closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate cost control and financial performance monitoringProvide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportingSupport executive leadership by streamlining processes and relieving operational financial bottlenecks created by company growthStrengthen internal controls, policies, and financial procedures to support continued expansionOversee cash flow management and forecasting across the project portfolioEnsure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirementsCollaborate cross-functionally to improve operational efficiency between finance and project teamsContribute strategically to the companys continued growth and scalabilityThis is an excellent opportunity for a driven Senior Financial Controller who enjoys being close to the projects, building strong teams, and playing a meaningful role in a growing commercial construction organization.
