Deputy Director Witness Protection Program - INV001511 Employment Type: Permanent Full-time Location(s): SK-Rgna-Regina Ministry: 073 Corrections Policing and Public Safety Salary Range: $7,863 - $10,223 Monthly Grade: MCP.07. About Us The Ministry of Community Safety Provincial Protective Services (PPS) Branch ensures the protection of people, natural resources and infrastructure. The Opportunity The Provincial Protective Services (PPS) Branch requires an experienced and forward-thinking individual who is committed to public safety for the position of Deputy Director, Witness Protection Program. Reporting to the Director of Policing and Investigative Services, this position will: Provide operational and administrative oversight of the Saskatchewan Witness Protection Program (SWPP). Liaise with Saskatchewan Law Enforcement Agencies and the RCMP Witness Protection Unit to promote and maintain effective relationships in support of successful prosecution of violent crime. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with individuals and stakeholders both within and outside one''s organization to achieve success. Receive and review all witness protection request applications to ensure they meet the established criteria. Arrange Approval Committee meetings as required and record decisions. Liaise with, monitor, and manage witnesses accepted into the SWPP. Prepare Witness Protection Agreements. Provide financial oversight of program expenditures. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communications skills; advanced knowledge in several areas of policing including investigative and covert police operations, legislation, officer safety. The ideal candidate is expected to be an innovative leader who is able to: Effectively communicate to a wide range of individuals and groups. Be comfortable interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds and possess strong interpersonal skills to build successful relationships with individuals, staff, teams, stakeholders, and partners. Identify risk and take steps to mitigate that risk. Manage information and administrative work while maintaining strict confidentiality. Operate effectively under stress responding to multiple demands and urgencies of others. Conduct risk assessments. Provide immediate protection services when appropriate. Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through the successful completion of a recognized police college program along with specialized training and experience of advanced police operations, covert duties, and management. To be eligible for this opportunity, the selected candidate will: Be required to undergo an enhanced security screening process and obtain and maintain a security clearance as a condition of employment. The successful candidate must be eligible for appointment as a Special Constable pursuant to The Police Act, 1990 (SK), Obtain and maintain qualification in use of force and firearms consistent with the Saskatchewan Police College standard, and, Be willing to work flexible shifts with extended hours, including extensive travel outside normal working hours.
