Oversees longrange planning and development of new operating capital and infrastructure improvement programs. Leads planning and implementation of the propertys environmental stewardship efforts; develops and implements new programs and policies to reduce carbon footprint. Administers longterm Preventive Maintenance Program for guest rooms, public areas, heart of house and safety systems. Develops and maintains internal standards for facilities; oversees selection and provision of furnishings, fixtures and equipment. Prepares and controls the annual facilities budget, monthly forecasting, monthend reports and commentary, ensuring cost control without compromising safety. Create and maintain a longterm plan for equipment end of life. Coordinates contracts including development of standard contracts, negotiating and administering contracts for services; assesses legal implications relating to other work activities. Sources appropriate suppliers and contractors; prepares and implements bid and purchasing procedures; evaluates RFP submissions, negotiates and recommends contract approvals. Operational Provides managerial direction to departmental teams and activities; provides leadership to the team that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Directs maintenance staff and contractors in the operation and maintenance of the mechanical and physical plant. Maintains budget in support of operational needs; maintains purchase and workorder systems to ensure equipment and supplies are available to team. Understands and owns all BackofHouse systems including electrical, power, Internet, telephone and technology. Administers workorder program and ensures that requests are handled in a timely and effective manner for both external and internal guests. Recruits and provides performance appraisals and reviews; develops and coordinates the training and development of the Engineering team. Oversees the scheduling and payroll systems as they relate to hotel engineering staff members. Explores and implements smart technology solutions for facilities management and operational efficiency. Coordinates and manages all outside contractors; including elevators, refrigeration and waste disposal. Integrates sustainable practices into all engineering operations, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction initiatives. Maintains a Purchase Order system and Request for Proposal system for the department. Ensures open communication and mutual support between Engineering and Royal Service departments and teams; uses Voice of the Guest (VOG) to develop support for other operating departments. Oversees the development and implementation of colleagues training and responsibilities for the AccorHotels Sustainability program; colleagues will be knowledgeable about the hotel sustainable business operations and practices. Leads the design, review, and approval process for all major renovations, expansions, any new construction projects including financial implications. Regulatory Coordinates with regulatory authorities and city regarding issues such as building codes, safety issues, accessibility issues and others. Is responsible for departmental health, safety, and WHMIS training programs, and thorough WCB compliance; actively participates in Occupational Health & Safety programs. Guides compliance, development and implementation of life safety systems, procedures and programs; head of Emergency Preparedness Committee and liaison with city emergency services. Manages reporting required by Accor relative to emissions impact and sustainability efforts. Ensures full compliance with local, national, and international engineering, safety, and environmental regulations. Oversees risk management in all engineeringrelated activities, including lifesafety systems, fire prevention, and emergency response planning. Implements robust quality assurance and control frameworks for all engineering works. Qualifications Collaborates effectively with diverse constituencies. Minimum 3 years leadership experience in engineering within a luxury hotel or complex facility. Level 4 Power Engineer Certificate an asset. Proven expertise in building systems: HVAC, MEP, life safety, and energy management. Displays strong organization and project management skill; meets deadlines and handles multiple projects and timetables. Proven experience leading complex multifloor, hotel renovations from start to finish. A high level of responsibility, reliability, and a positive attitude in challenging situations. Deep understanding of BC Occupational Health & Safety and building/fire codes. Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and capital projects. Building Management expertise, with a strong focus on ROI and costeffectiveness. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and industryrelated software. Pool operator''''s certificate or experience in pool maintenance and chemistry a strong asset. Able to analyze highly conceptual issues and problems; provide creative solutions. Provides effective communication through written, verbal and nonverbal means. Able to understand and communicate pertinent building and business regulations. Strong analysis skills and comfortable with financial analysis of budget, forecast and performance. Ensures all work is consistently done to a firstclass, luxury, standard. Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field) preferred. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, overnights, rotating shifts, extended hours, and emergency calls.
