What You''ll do: As a Wildfire Air Tanker Loader Technician, you''ll play a key role in supporting aerial wildfire suppression efforts. Based at the Abbotsford Air Tanker Base, you will safely mix and load fire retardant into aircraft during wildfire activity. You''ll: Safely mix and load wildfire retardant into air tankers within contracted timelines Follow all Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and wear required PPE Conduct daily inspections of pumps, hoses, fittings, switches, and tank levels Recirculate and test retardant to ensure quality specifications are met Off-load concentrate trailers and manage spill cleanup Perform minor equipment servicing to maintain operational readiness Complete required documentation (timesheets, base activity reports, driver logbooks, work logs) accurately and on time Respond to dispatch callouts within 30 minutes (early or late as required) Work closely with BC Wildfire Agency personnel, aviation crews, and Technical Representatives Assist with base setup, shutdown, and additional field projects Additional Duties May Include: Lawn and garden maintenance Basic building repairs and painting Base cleanup and light janitorial tasks Monitoring remote water systems Occasional dispatch support at remote bases Other tasks following approved hazard and risk assessments All duties are performed in full compliance with Perimeter Solutions ESH&S standards, WorkSafeBC, BC Wildfire policies, and applicable regulations. Requirements What You Bring: High school diploma (or equivalent) Valid Class 5 driver''s license with clean driver''s abstract Must reside within 30 minutes of the Abbotsford Air Tanker Base Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment Ability to operate hand tools and lawn equipment Mechanical aptitude (preferred) First Aid certification (preferred) Completion of annual Air Tanker Loader Technician certification (required) Scheduling includes compliance with a minimum of two (2) consecutive rest days within a 30-day period. Schedules may be adjusted as operational needs require. Physical Requirements: This is an active, physically demanding outdoor role requiring: Lifting 22 kg (49 lb) from floor to waist and from crouched position Carrying 27 kg (59.5 lb) with one arm for 50 m Frequent lifting up to 25 kg (50 lb) Walking 1.6 km in 16 minutes Kneeling/crouching for up to 10 minutes Climbing stairs/ladders daily Frequent bending and physical activity Working outdoors in varying weather conditions Successful completion of a physical fitness evaluation
