Menard is recognized as a leader and innovator in the Canadian geotechnical construction industry.The technical department is responsible for tender submission, project preparation and project execution and closure as per the project requirements, the applicable Engineering codes, the Menard groups Code of Ethics and policies in place.Objective of the PositionThe Project Manager is subject to following-up various sites at the same time and assist as required Construction Superintendent & Operation Manager on projects across Canada. This includes working with the Senior Project Manager, assisting the Operations Manager and supporting all levels of project staff in tender and/or the construction phase of projects. The individual is to be versed in OHS legislation with a good working knowledge of WCB requirements.FunctionsHealth and safety :Ensure all HSE requirements are respected according to risk assessment and safety manual and comply with applicable provincial or territorial regulations: lead site safety orientations; report incidents promptly.Attend project Safety Orientation and make sure all staff and visitors have followed and completed all orientations prior to accessing the site.With the help of the safety officer, establish a Site Hazard Analysis prior to the start of the work.Report all incidents/accidents and near misses to HSE officer and supervisor.Project Preparation :The Project Manager is subject to following-up various sites and assist the Construction Superintendent & Site Manager on projects as requiredDevelop and prepare budgetsContract review and submissionLink and coordinate with the design team In charge of all documents (HSE, Method statements, One-calls/locates)Make sure that the Construction Superintendent is aware of all the particularities on the siteEnsure that Materials and Transport have been orderedEnsure that the Construction Superintendent visited sites prior mobilizationProject Supervision :Supervise and train the Site ManagersAttend site kick-off meetings and be present at the beginning of each job to ensure the validity of the work platform, site conditions, design parameters etc.Attend meetings requested by the clientBe the main point of contact of the client and keep good communication with team membersFollow the budget, P&LParticipate in the contractual review of the project and coordinate all contractual aspects with the Project DirectorSubmit invoicing to the client and supervise the payment tracking working with the accounting departmentSubmit the site internal rentals to the Operations Manager and Yard/Equipment ManagerReinforce high quality standards and manage throughout projects.Independence / SupervisionThis position is to assist the Senior Project Manager and/or Operations Manager to provide technical support in phases of tender and construction, as well as to oversee job site activities.KnowledgeUnderstanding of geotechnical principalsGeneral Knowledge of Ground Improvement techniquesKnowledge of management principles involved in planning, resource distribution, and leadership techniques, production system and people coordinationUnderstanding of mathematics and their applicationsFamiliarity of relevant equipment, policies, procedures to ensure public safetyKnowledge of surveying techniquesCompetency in MS office, AutoCAD, MS Project and other software requiredSkillsDemonstrated leadership skillsContinuous improvement attitudeWell-developed critical thinking skills and mental agilityAbility to read and understand drawings/specificationsAbility to meet tight deadlines and schedules while maintaining safety, quality and profitabilityExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to think on your feet and make quick decisions that allows the safe and profitable advancement of projectsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsWorking knowledge of construction tools and equipmentCompetent with MS OfficeTeam player with a positive can do attitudeAbilitiesAbility to multitask in a rapidly changing environment.Excellent communication skills and able to work effectively in a diverse team environment in different geographical areasAbility to guide, direct and motivate subordinatesEstablish and maintain good working relationshipsDisplays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skillsExcellent verbal and written command of English (Bilingual candidate is an asset)Other RequirementsBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering other relevant degreeAt least 10 years of project management experience.
